Hi everybody
i need to buy a lens for wide shot covering in video, like full body shots ASAP
somebody suggest me a 35 mm on 5d
i need to know why to buy one and not the other of the following lenses..samyang 35mm vs zeiss distagon 35 mm f2 vs zeiss distagon 35mm f1.4
i need to buy it for music video shoot and commercial!
outstanding image quality and sharpness are my priority
people said the samyang perform well, even better than canon 35mm, but does the zeiss blow it away in term of image quality?

photozone.de has some very nice reviews of the zeiss f/2 and the samyang, on full-frame:

http://www.photozone.de/canon_eos_ff/503-zeiss35f2eosff?start=1

the-digital-picture.com has tests of both zeiss options, but not samyang:

also, lensrentals did this amazing blog post comparing 3 different 35mm lenses, but they won't say which is which (there's a pretty reasonable suggestion in the comments):

plus, I'd add another option to the mix: I love my vintage leitz elmarit-R 35mm f/2.8, you can see it compared to some popular lenses here in terms of sharpness:

and here in terms of bokeh (and here is where it really shines):

just be aware that vintage glass is a bit of a lottery: check my leitz elmarit-R 180mm f/2.8 results for a glimpse of how a slight error in lens assembly after cleaning (by a pro) can totally ruin an otherwise lovely lens (I sent it back and it's better now, but it's still not correctly assembled, it can't focus at infinity, only up to 250m or so, and that still creates som slight bokeh and sharpness issues)
bottom line: vintage glass can be awesome, but it sure is risky too

On an APS-C sized sensor, I'm not so sure 35mm will cover the wide angle as much as you'd like it to. Are you sure this is what you want/need?

it took me a while to find which camera he is using, but he said "somebody suggest me a 35 mm on 5d"

The 35mm 1.4 Samyang is breathtaking - especially for the price.

It became my favorite glass on the FS100 - and I have Nikon and Zeiss primes at hand.

i know that 35 mm on aps-c sized sensor result in 56 mm (50 mm), im going to use it on a 5d. and i'm not really sure if it will be good for full body shot with bokeh..which lens do you use for that?

i'm not very sure, but somebody suggested me 35 mm for full body shot! can you suggest the sharpest one i can use for that?..thanks

35mm simply isn't wide enough for an ASP-C sensor. You'll need at least a 24mm lens (I personally prefer an 18mm but they're hard to find as a prime).
