Rubber Lens Hood

i have a few of those rubber one from ebay, from less than 5$ they're great, been using them for a while with no problems at all.

imo a rubber lens hood is only good for pocket cams so you can easily close it up. So 77mm must be a pro vid cam?

And I don't think any of those ebay elcheapos are going to last anywhere near 20yrs.

I had a link to a great tutorial on the types and styles of camera lens hoods and it seems rectangular was best, this is supported by Canon for all their video cameras.

Cheers.

The 77mm hood I have came from a Mamiya 6X6 medium format still camera. I have used it on many cameras over the years from a Canon L1 to a 35mm Arri and everything in between. I've collected just about every ring adapter over the years so it can go on any lens. I have 2 Arri matte boxes which are great, but don't carry them everywhere my camera goes which is everywhere I go 24-7. I've found the 77mm rubber hood is light enough to have in the bag at all times and although not perfect for all occasions, helps in emergencies 100% of the time.
Any port in a storm.

one thing i like about these rubber lens hoods is that i can attach them in front of my LCW Fader ND and rotate them with the filter perfectly. This gives some amount of light protection and protects the precious little filter which isn't cheap.

I've tried 3 of these ebay rubber hoods, and the best one by far was the fotodiox 77mm one; the fotodiox 67mm and the supercheap chinese one feel quite crappy, but also work

I have a few of these, can't remember the brands, but longer one for tele lenses, and shorter wider one for wide angle lenses.
I also own a couple of nice matte boxes, but sometimes a rubber lens hood is the right choice.

Yeah, I really like the 3 stage ability. Also got mine on eBay, was like 1/5 of the price compared to the shops. No problems, not like they're too advanced...

I'm picking up a few more lens mount adapters from Fotodiox. Do you happen to have a model number of the 77mm version? I live on the other side of the planet and will only be back in the states a few weeks in June to pick up what i can't get here from ebay.
