Robin the Spy! Something Fowl is afoot.

Here are some new CC frame grabs. I have dropped the saturation considerably from the original footage. Still working on it though...

Any other suggestions are welcome.

The final edit is really looking much stronger now. The gadget scene is all but a few flashbacks now...

This was a delight! Great script. I loved how in the beginning it looks like a serious spy movie, but then they start going through all the bird-named spies - and she's sitting right next to him. Classic, even cliche perhaps, but effective nonetheless.

Everything was perfect with this one. Great lighting, best score of the entire fest... Yep, a delight.

My Thoughts:

I liked the look of the film and I dug the 'robin''s performance the most. I think you could have nixed that entire scene with the girl behind the grid. I'm looking forward to your new cut with just the flashbacks. I think that'll work much better.

I think someone mentioned it, but I think you needed to establish who he shot off screen which would have opened up that scene to the urgency of bailing out. I loved the fact they were sitting one isle back from each other at the beginning.

Looking forward to seeing more and way to go out on a limb and use another camera.

cheers!

The highlight in acting for me was the original agent in the church ... the guy outshined all the others, IMO. Also loved the gag with him sitting in the front pew, only to have the other agent less than 6 feet from him, in the next pew, upon the reveal. Funny work!

I honestly believe this film is among the best, if not THE Best for sound design!! I loved the music (great job, Leo!!), but didn't see who did your sound design ... was that also Leo? It was perfect!

The lensflare in the church could have used better compositing, or just lose it all togther, IMO ... it screamed of post FX.

Otherwise, great location, and although I think the gadget scene was way too drawn out & could be dramatically cut, the gadget agent was absolutely beautiful on screen. Upon the reveal of "Robin" our agent, I believe editing/pacing could be improved ... which it sounds like you may already be addressing.

Thanks, Justin! The new edit is just that, a few gadget flashbacks with an entirely new look. I have to say, it works MUCH better. The added office scene also fits in quite nicely.

Thanks.

Leo did the music, I did all of the editing, sound effects, etc... not sure if that's what you mean by sound design. Glad you liked it though.

PS- I have also gotten rid of some of the stained glass shots and removed some of the lens flare as well.

I really want to thank everyone for their advice. I really try to take it to heart and learn as much as I can.

Cheers,

Mike
