Woken early by a mysterious phone call – and a cryptic question – Max and Emily are thrust into a morning full of surprises. And while Max is cooking up a shocking surprise for his beloved Emily, he's blind to the dark and dangerous forces afoot. Forces that are slowly tearing the young couple’s neighborhood apart – and are inching their way into Max and Emily’s life.

Hey Thanks guys!

Everything was so "last minute" that it hurts. My audio levels are suffering in a big way but we have some great performances and I'm really happy with the cinematography and action... especially toward the latter half.

Nice Film Stink. I thought some shots were too overblown for my taste. And I agree with you that some of the audio levels were a bit off. But my film was last minute as well and rushing breeds mistakes as you will see when watch "early retirement". I have to watch this one again because I missed something. One thing for sure, dude's Moustache was amazing!
 
Awe Stinkpot - now the idea of an evil phone call that can drive people into horrendous super freaks - either as a kind of curse/ghost/virus/soundweapon and yep even as part of what some super evil dude can deliver - can work - but it didn't quite succeed in convincing me that this was all really happening. I think there were too many incidental things - just the phone calls about dogs, the girls fighting in the streets - the slightly comedic behaviour of the couple and the totally unexpected and non-introduced arrival of our villain - that just made the film difficult to grasp. Elements of style and the characterisation of the couple was cute and fairly absorbing - even humorous with the dogs. But it just got maybe a little too difficult for me personally to comprehend once we were about half way through the movie. Would you like to expand what the story was about etc - and what this power or the villain is?

Besides that, I really didn't get it. Not that I really have to, but maybe if we saw the mysterious dog walker first leaving the scene of a crime and then jump to these folks and see the mysterious dog walker again it might've worked better. I'm guessing he was just evil, because I didn't pick up on any intent. Other than those complaints it was a nice looking film.
 
No I did get that the 'quick survey' was just the dog walker trying to get the girl, maybe he can only influence the girl. I think maybe you just had a larger story than 6 minutes would allow. I know all about that. :)
 
This film has a professional urban look. The actors were all convincing. I like the story and absolutely love the score at the end. Compliments and much luck.

That's the first thing I noticed too, "Who wears a bra to bed?" Come on now. The lighting was so over exposed due to the time of day it was shot and the windows in the apartment. Was it suspenseful? Not really. Once I heard the first call pretty much knew where it was going. The ending with the guy outside the apartment and the music, I'll give you that. That "felt" like a movie scene. The rest just jumbled.
 
Hey, thanks for the feedback folks! I know, I know... who wears a bra to bed? A drunk girl (even though it might get removed by someone else but we're not making that kind of movie here)... haha. Anyway, there were some real technical difficulties converting this thing to MOV and keeping it under 60MB... the audio didn't work at all until someone helped us with a workaround (although it degraded it) and the entire picture got brightened as well (completely blowing out portions that didn't look too bad in the original file). As for the telling of the story... well, we shot this 48 hour (a bit more but hey) and that's what we get for under-planning.
 
Really cool. I love the way it was shot, all the camera angles were great! Looked overexposed though.
Still, I just loved the shot selection. The editing was top notch as well.

Acting could have been a tad bit better but overall it was good and I bought into it.
I love this kind of story and the ending along with the music really worked.

That was just fun! I did have to back up to catch what he was whispering - audio on that bit could have been more clear. Really entertaining to watch!
 
What a bizarre little short! I didnt understand it all - but I don't want to as I enjoyed it exactly as it was. It had some nice thematic links and some really great moments, a kind of cyclical nature too.

Some of your compositions were great and the actors and script flowed nicely. Yeh, I dug this a lot. I wouldn't have shown the man at the end, I think showing less of him in the final shot would have been a bit more true to your ambiguous nature here. But really good fun and refreshing entry.

Thanks Mike! Yeah, quicktime brightened things up even further so I had to eat that one ;)

We put this thing together very quickly so we weren't able to squeeze in a rehearsal (never doing that again - haha).

Thanks man. I wasn't going to show his face but I really liked the composition of him lighting the cig so I sacrificed mystery for style... ;)

yeh, I've been there :),

I really liked this though, the way you sequence the events presents a real mystery and one which feels quite surreal. I liked the fight outside while the phone was screaching. Quite nightmarish but with a blend of dark humour, I loved that after she sliced up her bf the door opens on that happy dog. Really chuckled there. I just respond to stuff like that very well. I'm interested to see what you do next.
