General Ring Light Tutorial?

A couple weeks back someone posted a link to a tutorial on how to make a ring light. The guy had a slight accent and the model in the video was a singer.
The search function keeps giving me a Fatal error message so if anyone recalls the video or can post another link I'd appreciate it.

That was one I was considering making since its pretty inexpensive and a bit more portable. There is a post on the last page where this guy uses 3 rings and controls it via 2 9v batteries in an altoids container so be sure to look at the comments.

Not sure about the distance per se, but for ~$20 and about 15-20mins of work i'm willing to at least try it for fun:)

i play a lot with these Angel eyes. they are great and cheap.
Take care that there is 2 kind of leds available for such rings.
the one you can see on the link above are the small leds called 3528 (so less power).
there is another type of led (called 5050 because the square size of 5mm by 5mm) and they are 3x more powerful, while almost same price.
A good source is www.xwled.com , a new chinese company doing lots of nice led products, it is where i get my best rings. The temperature of led is a great white, not too blue.

They also get arrays of led, i think you can arrange 8 panel on a ring to get an extra powerful light.
Since me sony Ex1 get a large sunshade and no rings was large enough (biggest is 140mm) , i made my own (about 210 mm diam) and installed 105 led on it. it works really great.
I even ordered two different led type (warm white and cold white) to mix on the ring, so the light is even better.
