Compatible with almost any camera. Clutched articulation does not require lock/unlock levers. Can be big or small. Can be all the way forward or all the way backward. Can be sideways.
You can see it action at

Have been looking into a quality solution for this combination for some time. Without a doubt the nicest and most robust system I have seen. Should be placing an order shortly!

I've finally gotten my rig to where I'm happy. Received some parts from Olof and custom mounted them differently for a very well balanced rig.

The various parts I used are from Edelkrone, Zacuto and Westsideav

I think i'll need a slim, easy to deal with 3G SDI cable for shoulder rig set ups with the 7Q.

I see CD's own cable here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...Design_CD_COAX_0_46_HD_SDI_Coax_Cable_18.html

I haven't used such a thin cable, does it risk any kind of weaker signal with the FS700 & 7Q?

If i get it, BH says it ships in 2-4 weeks.

It's rated as a 3G-SDI cable, you shouldn't have any issues.

Personally, I use the CineCoil SDI cables for on-camera connections (EVF, camera mounted 7Q). Really easy to deal with on-camera since the cable will stretch as needed.

Do you use the Cine Coil cables for recording or just monitoring? Although I have never tested them - it seems unlikely that two right angle terminations and a coiled single shielded cable could meet the return loss needed for error free 3G-SDI. Many cables and connectors have specs that are never actually met in the real world - I would be scared.

I love to convenience factor when used for monitoring though.

I have the 20" Cinecoil. Probably should have gotten the 10". It's great, no troubles monitoring and recording.

I had a very thin sony hdmi cable before i got the 7Q. Looking for something like that in SDI, the CD 18" looks good. I think i'll try that too.

I remember Mitch mentioning that the built-in right angles of the CineCoils are better than adding right angle adapters to a normal cable. I actually do use them for recording with the 7Q. Haven't had any issues, knock on wood, and I've shot quite a bit with it. Had a shoot on an island for a week back in March, ended up using the CineCoils exclusively for the whole week shooting 4K60, 2K240, 4KtoHD and shot about 3TB of footage. (Of course, I had other SDI cables as backup, but never needed them.)

Oh, and Carlos, I'm anxiously awaiting my Ultimate 7Q Solution ;)

"Oh, and Carlos, I'm anxiously awaiting my Ultimate 7Q Solution".... You're not the only one. ;) I ordered the same including Scatterbox 2, and cannot wait until it arrives. Hope they ship soooooooooonnnnnnn.;) I'l post pics when it arrives..;)

The CineCoil cables are good, and certainly preferrable to using add-on right angle adapters. But I honestly do feel that the Convergent Design Ultra-thin SDI cables are better.

Now that Solid Camera is back as a DVX sponsor - I can participate in the conversation a little more.

It is almost all down to the assembly process now - still a few vendors sending screws and things. Fortunately the Ultimate Odyssey System is not very difficult to put together. It is always a learning curve and seemingly never ending stream of details when we transition from prototype to production. We have pushed through the details and I believe that all the pieces are now simply waiting for me and my screwdriver.

The ScatterBox2 is a far more complicated device going through the same detailed process going from prototype to production. Nothing that working indie film hours cant solve of course ;-)

I will try to post some pics today after I finish the laser engraving.

ive been thinking of ordering the Edelkrone evf mount as well, how do you like it? Is it sturdy? Do you think it would stay level with the camera even if you ad the extra weight of two 770 batteries on it?

i just ordered one 48" from Olof. I'm using it on my Steadycam and it is really well built, i wouldn't expect failures or any higher risk from using it... I think they make custom built cables too.
