rig weight question

ok so today i tallied up the wieght of my proposed rig (some stuff on the way) and it consists of :

DIY Shouldermount (schedule 40 pvc)
Tamron 17-50 (Heaviest lens i have at the moment)
7d+ zfinder jr
Noga arm
Superclamp (to clamp to shouldermount to attach noga arm + monitor)
rode ntg2 (just put it on the hot shoe..duno if i'll actaully use it)
Manhattan 7inch monitor + DVX 5600mah battery

This tallies to 12- 12.5 lbs without a counter wieght...i'm going to put a 3lbs counterwieght on the back (def needed).

This rig wieght will go down a tad when i change out that lens to primes.

SO thats like 15lbs and thats pretty heavy. I dont come from 35mm adpater days so i dont know bout rig weights (coming from a stock dvx)...but is this considered normal? i guess i will get used to it i just need more cushioning for the shoulder part...but i shudder to think when i do get a proper shoulder mount which will no doubt be heavier than my DIY.

The good thing is that the camera is pretty stable and handheld looks really good.

Out of curiosity How much does a fully rigged out RED or Film camera ballpark at?

Broadcast cameras, ENG style, can weight 14+ lbs. The weight actually works in your favor, though. It's easier to stabilize a heavier rig on your shoulder than it is a light rig in your hands.

And film cameras, bare, aren't 15lbs, but once rails, matte box, filters, cables, prime lens, full reel, etc. are added, it can be pretty impressive.

Our Ikegami Betacam SX, ENG style cameras that I shoot on every day weigh in at 25 pounds with the Anton Bauer brick attached. I only weigh 145 pounds, so the weight is definitely felt. I think something around 15 pounds would be perfect as long as it is balanced nicely.
