GH3 Review: Fotodiox Compact Rig

I wrote up a review of the Fotodiox Compact Rig after using it with the GH3 around the world for the past year. It's a bit too small for the GH2 (blocks battery door), but it's a perfect fit for the GH3. I really like having access to a chest brace and rods at all times, though it is a bit chunky.

Nice review. I have one of these too. I wish there was some way to lock the arm into place when using the chest support.

Thanks. I agree, I would prefer locking joints even if it meant unfolding/folding the rig were a bit slower. It would make the rig so much more stable.

does chest brace ever become loose?

does chest brace ever become loose?

Good review. Does the chest brace extension ever collapse with use? I think I recall reading that some owners of this unit had to frequently re-tighten a locking screw, as the chest brace would work itself loose.

Now that you've had this item for a while, do you still like it and use it? How is it holding up?

This unit is a clone of Edelkrone's Pocket Rig (which was recently discontinued).

If your going to add handles then it's still a useful device though I've mostly retired mine in favor of Edelkrone's Pocket Support. Folded into a short gunstock (shorter than Edelkrone demonstrates) it adds a lot of support to handheld work so lives on one of my GH4(s).

Also picked up their Pocket Handles but don't use them as often.
