Resistance with the Zoom Ring

Having come to the 150 from the Sony FX1, I'm finding the lack of Zoom Ring resistance frustrating. I keep telling myself it's something I'll get used to, but it's just not happening for me, so my ring zooms have been choppy. Is there any way to add resistance either mechanically or otherwise?

TO each of his own I guess.

I absolutely hate the resistance on Canon and Sony zooms... I love to be able to snap zoom for focus checks and control the speed of the zoom with my fingers.

What I do to add resistance is to place the finger so that half of the finger surface rests on the ring and half on the lens barrel.. when I apply downward pressure, the part of the finger that touches the lens barrel applies a smooth drag to mimic the resistance you're used to...

It's like a tripod head with no resistance -- jerky. When you have something to push against you have smooth shots. When you punch the gas after a stop light it throws you back against your seat. I'll try the finger thing, but as the driver, I don't want my passengers thrown against their seats.

You never used the original DVX100. I have one and the HMC ring as much more resistance!

Maybe you can try to use it without the zoom ring pin. Just fit it into the provided pin holder on the other side of the camera.

I couldn't remove the pin.. I guess I just have to twist extra hard? Never used the pin on my DVX.. it's the primary reason why manual zooming was so jumpy...
