If anyone has misplacement problems like myself ("where's my wallet, honey?"), then perhaps you've found yourself minus a P2 card case after a grueling shoot with 100 other things to worry about. Well, I embarked on the bizarre and often perplexing quest of contacting Panasonic administrative slackers in an effort to determine how I could purchase a replacement P2 card plastic case.
I can confidently say that my efforts were not in vain -- time-consuming to be sure, but not in vain. I received it today in the mail from my local Panasonic Broadcast Parts center -- located in Burbank, CA (Cahuenga Blvd.). For those who'd like the info on the P2 Replacement Card Case, here goes:
ITEM NO.: S05-6-Y800, AJ-P2C002SG
PART NAME: Card Case
PART NO.: VFC4069
The cost of this item was approximately $15 dollars. I haven't worked out the cost proportion relative to the current sale price of P2 cards, but I suspect this would be a fruitless mathematical waste of time. 15 bucks didn't bother me all that much.
The aforementioned information can safely navigate you -- or your aggrieved friends -- through the process of acquiring this part without the headache of speaking with 100 administrative lackeys who don't know anything about P2 cards and who want to transfer you to the next equally uninformed operator.
The ONLY gripe I have, however, is that the card case DID NOT come with the little black rubber card sleeve that fits on the end of the P2 card. As a result, I am left with the somewhat unappealing prospect of having my P2 card jostle around in its plastic case without fitting perfectly inside of its plastic contours. I suspect that this rubber end-piece also has some abnormal Panasonic PART NUMBER designation(s) and can be purchased as well at a nominal fee. Perhaps if the spirit strikes me, I will investigate this and update this post, if necessary.
