repairing stuck aperture ring on nikkor lens.

The fact that nobody on this forum has tried that might tell you all you need to know.

(Remember this is the same forum where some people tried to make their own DIY OLPF filter.) :)

From what I've read, almost every lens needing a repair requires a specific plan. Some are simple, others extremely complex. If you take it to a trusted technician and it's simple for him to fix, he may not even charge you.

haha, yeah... I just found a yahoo nikon repair group. Hopefully, I'll have better luck there.

Jordan, I've already found one technician here in Houston but he charges $20 just for an estimate... =/ It really sucks cuz the lens I bought was suppose to be "mint". It's a Nikkor 24mm 2.8 AIS lens that came with the original box and manual. Got it off ebay, and it's little to late to return it now.

My friend had the same issue with his Nikkor 85mm but it was an early H model. He was able to repair the stuck aperture ring and focus ring himself. But like you said, every model is different and I'm not sure if the AIS 24mm model we be easy to take apart. I've looked all over google for the service manual but no luck. There aren't any tutorials or diagrams on how to take apart this lens.

Thank you both for the replies.

:edit:

To be more specific with my problem. The lens aperture ring can be adjusted fine(although a little stiff) from apertures 4 to 22. But I can't get it to go 2.8. I don't think this is a sticky aperture issue. When flicking/testing the aperture lever, I can see the aperture moving very smoothly.
