Removing a lens adaptor.

I just received the Kawa Nikon F mount to EOS adaptor. It attaches the lens to the Canon very well. My question is, now that I have it on my Nikon lens, How do I get it off? It is on there very tight and i do not see how to get it off. :undecided

I am about to get a lens adapter and I did not know that this could be a problem.

What adapter are the easiest to remove?

Can you post the link to the adapter you got?

Thansk!

I think there's a button on the adapter that you got that will allow you to take the adapter off. I know there's one on my Fotodiox adapters for Nikon and Olympus Mounts and I assume it's the same for yours.

I'll be damned If I can find it. There is a tab that operates a very little spring. But it doesn't do anything.

Ahhhh I got it. There is a lever on the outside edge of the adapter that needs to be lifted as you turn the adapter to remove it. The hard part is getting a grip on the adapter as you turn it. I think one of those rubber disks that are sold to help open jars would help.

Now that I can get the sucker off, I actually like this adapter. When attaching the lens to my camera (T2i) it is rock solid. I don''t feel any play and the lenses focus and function normally. They are cheap enough that I will probably buy one for each of my lenses and keep them on.

BTW, the company responded back to my email about getting it off in about 4 hours. I like that too.

Yeah, I had run across that thread. I have tested the adaptor on 3 prime lenses so far and focus does not seem to be an issue. I am not going to trust the distance makers on still lenses anyway. As for zooms, I have thrown out the zoom shot as part of my visual repertoire with my HD-DSLR, I don't see any still lenses working like dedicated video or cinema zoom, so if I get a zoom lens, I will use it as a variable prime so zoom back focus should not be a problem I will deal with. I am sure there are much better adaptors out there, but I think this one will work well for what I need.

One more question!

So a Nikon 50mm lens would be 50mm on the canon with the adapter?

are you happy withe adapter you got?

I mostly use prime lenses so I am OK.

Thanks for the help!

Well, a 50mm lens is a 50mm lens, regardless of the adaptor. However, the angle of view, because of the crop factor, changes based on the camera sensor size. So a a 50mm lens would have the "Normal" angle of view associated with the 50mm lens on a Full Frame 35mm still sized sensor, such as the Canon 5D MkII. On APS-C sensors, on cameras like the Canon 7D and the Canon 550D, have the 1.6X so a 50mm lens would have the FF35mm angle of view of an 80mm lens. For the Micro 4/3 sensor, with a crop factor of 2, the FF 35mm angle of view of a 50mm lens would be 100mm.

All the adaptor above does is attach a different brand of lens, with a different lens mount configuration, to a camera with a Canon EOS mount.

I like fine. It attaches the lens to camera with out any play and as noted above, does not appear to have any issues with focus or other functions of the lens. I have ordered more so that I can keep them on the lenses and not have to worry about removing them and moving them from lens to lens. While their construction is OK, I think the move the remove them the more they would loosen up. So I will just keep the adaptor on the lenses until I have to change them (hopefully to a Micro 4/3 mount next February or so!).
