Does anyone know of a remote that will work on the 60D in video mode? It has to be corded as I will be behind the camera, but if anyone knows of a wireless solution that will work from behind I would like to hear it.

All the wired remotes I have seen are only for shutter release.

There is the Canon RC-6 (a quick Google search turns this up as the top hit) wireless remote that can start and stop video recording, but you need to check your camera's manual to see if that function is available by wireless remote.
 
Use magic lantern. It has a feature that allows the shutter release command to start video recording. You can then use any cheap IR remote that would normally be used for photography to start/stop recording. Also, there are quite a few USB controllers that work with the camera. Just do a search for USB Canon DSLR controller. Manfrotto makes one. Okii makes one. Etc. The USB controllers are not wireless, though.
 
Thanks so much for your replies. I'm looking into the suggestions and find a few quite interesting, and viable solution for what I need. IR remotes are not really in the picture as I need to control the camera from behind. I will be looking into software to control the camera from a laptop, one that could possibly capture the video directly so as to not worry about downloading the clips later. Thanks again to the both of you, you've given me a direction to run with.

I've been looking for the same thing to run a 60D at the end of a 7 meter camera crane. Right now I use a laptop with Canon utilities and a USB cable which controls all the functions along with a rough video picture from the camera. Works, but it's a little hard to work fast in the field using a mouse pad. be better with a control for focus and start stop recording along with a small monitor.

I have the Manfrotto MVR911ECCN. Seems about the simplest option, but there are quite a few USB controllers on the market now.

There is no reason that you can't point the receiver for an external IR remote to behind the camera.
 
I found this interesting video. Don't ask me how I found it, it was late in the night as I was clicking from one link to another. It has to do with using an RF signal from a garage door transmitter and receiver. I've ordered the trans/receiver to test it but since it's coming from China it won't be here for up to two weeks. Will let you know when I put it together how it does with video.
