remote zoom rocker

Is there a zoom remote for the motor zoom when the cam is on the tripod ? Does the HPX300 have connections for this option?

Yes it does and it is underneath on the lens, you can use the Fuji one if you can afford it but I found that the cheaper manfrotto one will not work:http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/publ...or-remote-zoom-control-on-Professional-Lenses

Best comprimise is the libec handle and there is one on e-bay now:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Libec-PH-9-Zo...?pt=UK_Consumer_Professional_RL#ht_500wt_1154

They normally go for around £120 2nd hand and there is also a smaller clip on one that is around that price new:http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/public/view_item_cat.php?catalogue_number=libec_ZC-9PRO

The new libec handle is also here:http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/public/view_item_cat.php?catalogue_number=libec_ph-9_remote

I have both of these and they will fit most tripods they also have rec/ret buttons and the larger handle has a dual speed control.

You may want to check out varizoom as well, I believe they have solutions for these Fujinon and Canon lenses we would most likely use on the 300. I was looking for a solution that would allow me to put the 300 on the end of the crane, if memory serves me they had a solution.

Be sure to check it works as the 17x lens on the 300 301 etc seems to be different to all other fuji lenses and that is why the manfrotto does not work with it.

I know I have tried the manfrotto one but I can say that the libec ones all work OK

Thanks Gary,

Great info. To me the http://www.creativevideo.co.uk/publi...ec_ph-9_remote looks best but that is just from first glance. Does it fit on a standard Sachtler DV15SB setup ? Does a motorized zoom handle have advantages above a manual one (on the side of the lens) which for instance vocas offers ( i mean in terms of how smooth the zoom is) ?

cheers
Cees

Not yet, I will go to the IBC on 9/11 (oeps) to check out some vendors and I can see them in action. So if you have any suggestions of other brands which I can check tell me and I can have a look for you as well.

Just clicked this and it opens in Chrome. It's the VZ PG-F. VariZoom also sells 8 to 12 and 12 to 8 pin conversion cables that allow the Canon or Fujinon controller to work across almost all lenses for start/stop and variable speed zoom.

I actually have the VZ Pro-C version, which is designed for Canon. Use it on the HVX300 / Fujinon combination all the time with the $99 Canon 8 to Fujinon 8-pin adapter cable.

Thanks Erik, I will have a look at the varizoom at IBC if they are present. I use safari but will try if it opens in firefox. thanks again

edit : site open in firefox :-)) The varizoom is very pricy though comared to the Libec Gary adviced. Does it have more possibilities ?????

I could not find varizoom at the IBC :-((( and from libec only a representative was there but no gear ! So I had a look at the Varizoom and does the VZ-Rock-PZFI work with the HPX300?

The PH-9 has a dual speed control but I thought the speed is controlled by how far you push the rocker like the rocker on the HPX300? Does the ZC-9 pro not have a dual speed button? The ZC-9 pro is also suitable for Canon lenses by a switch, does the PH-9 also have this option?? Which of both let you controll the speed of zoom the most accurate ?????

I talked to Nick Allen-Miles at the IBC and he told me that the PH-9 is out of production but that they have a few still on stock.
