Remember the clumsy best man?

I'm sure we've all seen the wedding clip where the best man slipped while trying to give the groom the ring, causing the bride and the priest to take a dive into the pool behind them. Apparently, the groom actually bought a bunch of little cameras and distribute them to his guest to record the wedding, and they were later able to sell the footage to a production company which edited together what happened after that event.

The amazing thing is that it's actually REALLY good. Works out almost like a romantic comedy except that everything actually happened, and it's fascinating to watch. I was skeptical at how they would stretch out that one little clip into 40 minutes worth of footage, but I was hooked and kept watching until the end. Check it out, it's well worth it. Unfortunately Youtube wouldn't give me a direct link for some reason so you'll have to go to the YT Screening Room to see it; it's a featured video.

If it's not real they did a hell of a job faking it. The acting and the camera work was spot on, as was the writing.

I smelled acting quite heavily.

There was a story about "Raging Bull." The director wanted to get some shots that looked like it was shot by some amatuer film shooter. He and the DP tried but intrinsically it looked too professional, their filmmaking instincts betrayed them. As the case here, it looks ingenuine. The Office example is pretty spot on.

reeks of acting. The wife's exposition dialogue "he's making a video diary leading up to the wedding" was the giveaway for me.

PS: Don't you think the decent sound is a giveaway? Plus fully flushed sub-plots? Lol.

If anything, I smell an advertisement for those small video cams.

Definitely acting. I've met a few real people and they don't act like that on camera. lol

Why do they try so hard to make people think it's real? Do they think we'll enjoy it more if we think it's real? The Office is fake but we still enjoy it. Oh well. I guess they'll keep making these kind of videos as long as people keep believing they're real.

:)
