Can I Fly/Airport with a dvx?

Hey wondering if anyone has ever taken their camera on a plane. I heard rumors of the g-force posssbily damaging the camera. Also the x-rays at the security checks, are they harmful? I know those x-rays can damage film.

I'm also planning on taking aboard sound equipment. Will some plane wave or x-ray at the security check destroy sound equipment?

If flying is a bad choice, I will probably have to drive for a week.. But I'm willing to make sacrafices for the better of my equipment.

Fly away dude. It's a little bit of a pain going through security with a camera, laptop, and sound equipment, but other than that you're good.

I just got back from teaching for a week in Canada. I had 4 different planes each way. I took my DVX plus basic gear as carry on with no trouble at all.

yea man, i just got back from Aruba like a week ago, and i brought my dvx with all of its accesories as my carry on bag. you should be fine dude.

I flew across the country and then half way around the world and back with the HVX without a problem. Camera still works great :)

X-Rays can damage film but tape is a different media. It's the magnetic sources that you have to watch out for.

Airport security will ask you to send cameras through xray separately. I carry mine in a pelican case that also has camera batteries, tapes, lav mic w/receiver, shotgun mic, AAA batteries, charger. Only once has security ever actually flagged the case for someone to look through. You get to the other side and pop the camera back in the case and move on. Xrays do nothing to any of this equipment.
