Red Steadicam

I know it's wishful thinking, but it would be incredible if there was a collaboration between steadicam (or some other similar company) to produce a steadicam merlin type of product for RED. It looks like the Steadicam Flyer will be required for use with RED since the Merlin tops out at 5 pounds capacity (HVX200 being the heaviest cam it can support- and probably the heaviest or own arms could support hehe). The RED-GUn looks amazing, but lack of some type of image stabilization would deter me from getting it.

Yeah, the RED-gun looks like a cool concept, but good luck holding one like a rifle for a couple of hours.

Red-gun

I already get ragged for being a camera guy. I don't need a future gun looking attachment for my Red cam. I am thinking I would be really interested in like a base plate with RODS for a follow focus and mattebox.

The Flyer is really great by the way.

I don't know, been thinking about it, and in actual use it might not be that bad. I mean, soldiers heft guns all day long. The M16A2, for example, weighs 3.99 kg (8.79 lb) loaded. Jim said the camera is around, what, 7lbs?

But yes, some for of steady-cam system is going to be needed. I'm sure if RED doesn't come up with something, the 3rd party developers will be all over it.

At a reported around 12lbs with lens, the Red will work perfectly on the Steadicam Flyer.

Hell, That's full blown 4K Steadicam for under 30 grand for the whole package. You can NOT beat that!

Actually, Mikko, we don't know how much RED-RAM will cost. And that will be the only way to shoot 4K unplugged. BUT, still sounds like a very sweet deal, indeed!
