I'm pretty sure Scarlet will still be 3k.Of course Jim Jannard could pull a fast one on us and claim that 3K at 120 frames per second is better than 4K at 30 frames per second.

If Red is true to form, light field feature will probably be a free software update, not a new camera. Maybe a new lens involved. (you will have to pay for the lens).
I'm betting Scarlet is 4k and 2/3". Scarlet is supposed to be all about 2/3". When they discontinued the "S35 scarlet" they moved it over to the Epic line, drawing a clear distinction -- Epic was for S35, Scarlet was for 2/3".
If the Scarlet has migrated to S35, then there's no longer a real distinction between them. So -- my crystal ball says there's no chance on earth that the "Scarlet" will be S35. But I think it's entirely reasonable to think that it's now 4K instead of 3K, as per Jim's comments about it now being "professional" and Red's earlier disdain for anything lower than 4K.
As for "the biggest announcement in the history of Red" and "3 of a kind beats two pairs" -- surely that's obviously some reference to an "oh yeah, and one more thing" kind of announcement... As in, we'll have three announcements, beating Canon's two (if there's any truth to the rumors that Canon will be introducing two new camcorders)...
What price are you betting on, Barry? I can't really afford more than 6-7k, do you think this is realistic for a 4K 2/3 Scarlet?
Up to this point, the projected prices for the Scarlet fixed have generally been for a basic kit, not just the brain. For just the brain yes, that is where RED is brilliant at sucking the money out of your wallet, "Our scarlet is competitive, it's only 6-7k" then you have to buy all the components just make the thing work.
t really struck me when Steve Jobs died. I loved the guy and everything he stood for. The good and the bad.
He had a big influence on me, on all of us wether we admit it or not.
Now I realize, that Jim and yes you Jarred too, have a far far bigger impact on my life than any thing else in this world till today (ok my parents and daughter are rockstars too).
You changed the way I shoot, the way I think a bit, you changed my whole business for the better. This is huge. No other Apple product ever did this to me, none.
As much as I love Steve and he is seen as one of the greatest minds ever, in my world Jim and the gang mean much more to me than all the other great leaders combined. This is huge. This is scary at the same time. This is remarkable for a team that didn't exist only a few years ago. This shows who you are.
It's an honor to hang out with you every single day. This is my life, this is why I love it.
Thanks
The future is dependent on those that push... not those that react.
I replied "Wasn't RED the one who reacted to Canon's november 3rd announcement? Just saying..." and my post dissappeared 30 seconds later. Is that the "RED magic" people are talking about on the forum?
Two days to go. In a meantime I have a contest for you; who can read this thread without puking: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?65569-Jannard
Prepare yourself for 10000 pages of this:
Bow to our lord and savior.

Does it really matter what Red announces this week? I mean it IS subject to change..again. how can u believe anything they say until it actually ships.
Yes. "problem with Lytro is that it doesn't have enough resolution. We have the answer" or something like that. Then one guy replied how he has been looking for Lytro's for long time and had few units on list, but after RED's comment he will wait for RED product. I mean, dude is looking to buy something for a lon time and then when it's released doens't buy it because RED might release something like that in 2020.Wasn't it only last week that they jumped on the coat tails of lytos too?
True. I mean, I've seen at least 100 better videos shot with DLSR's on here and cinema5d than any EPIC video on reduser. It's so funny how many of those videos shot with EPIC for example have like few hundred views on youtube and then there's like 10 comments saying how awesome the video is (all posted by other RED shooters). It's like they have to call everything shot with RED awesome and can't say a bad thing about any video. In the end how many people waiting for the announcement really need these cameras anyway?
I'm still in complete awe of the fact that anyone can trek out and shoot images like this single handed, in the forest...
Does this guy live under a rock or where has he been since 5D MKII was released? That video looks exactly like first 5D "test" videos, only not as good.

Few examples:

Comment made for the latter:

Don't get me wrong, in right hands EPIC or RED One produces very nice footage that is above anything you can shoot with DSLR's.
.......
back to the announcement speculation... there must be some new features on the Scarlet. they can't just raise the price because "Scarlet is now professional camera".
It's always been billed as a professional camera. About a year ago, Jim Jannard reiterated the point to quell complaints about repeated price hikes, as in "professional gear costs more." Which is actually kind of silly. Even at $3K Scarlet was a professional, robust design. Considering the specs announced in 2008, with the exception of modularity (of dubious value at this price point) and HDRx, it hasn't changed as much as some may believe. I suppose it did lose a CF slot and HD-SDI in the base package. On the other hand, Epic-X's price has risen relatively modestly despite a number of improvements, and it didn't get nearly the fanfare on its release that Scarlet's been getting. I don't mean to denigrate Red's achievement -- it is pretty amazing. But it's naive to believe people will forget three years of hype and discard all of their expectations. Considering Jim Jannard's recent cryptic comments about change, maybe there will be some real surprises.back to the announcement speculation... there must be some new features on the Scarlet. they can't just raise the price because "Scarlet is now professional camera".
