Red Scarlet Announcement Info

Just quickly think about what you can get at that price and that might change your feeling. I don't think the specs are blowing anyones minds. Its the fact it has all of that for that price (even at 14k or whatever for a set up, which is right in the price range of the F3).

I guess at least the F3 can go straight from camera to edit... ....

Wait, Premiere pro + 50mb 4K footage = Cake WAlk...

Well unless you're calling the Red team liars, but I'm not assuming or anything, it was officially stated by Red that their sites have been under ATTACK by hackers since the announcement ceremonies began

The problem is how does RED know it was hackers? It all looks the same whether it's a DDOS attack or too many people trying to access the site at the same time.

100% true. A DDOS attack is essentially someone using 100s of computer to request a website at the same time causing the webservers to overload and cease feeding out the page. Thousands of people trying to access a site for an announcement would look exactly the same.

I'm also a guitarist, and we had the SAME experience with Fractal Audio's release of their super hyped Axe-Fx ll, and that was a let down because it took 8 months for delivery....anyways, I'm going to buy one Scarlett, I just hope the expectations of availability are met.

Enjoy the ride mrkz1974! :)
You may never witness this again for the rest of your life.
Innovation meets competition at a critical transitional moment.
If they pull off the manufacturing....this is going to be HISTORIC. (hhmmm....maybe that's what Canon meant...) lol

Canon will rise another day....they better not wait too long though...lol

I had my doubts but RED really came through. Time will tell if they can meet the demand and most importantly maintain the reliability of say a Canon or Sony product. At this price point lots of people will be buying and many of them may be selling off other gear and need a camera that is solid and RED has not always been the best in that area historically. I give them tons of credit for coming out full force and just destroying the competition as far as specs and price point(again depends on them actually coming through with orders and stability of the products). Even potentially undercutting many of their own products. It took balls and that is what the big boys are lacking. Canon really disappointed me today. The 4k DSLR sounds promising but not a year from now. Let's face it Canon has the ability to creative a competitive product it just simply is not a priority to them I guess. I am a long time Canon user and will continue to use them for many jobs as they still suit the needs of many projects. Dslr's are not going anywhere anytime soon. They still serve a huge market of smaller production needs, lower budgets, ect. I was just hoping, as many of us were, that something better was on the way sooner. Something in the fs100, af100 range from Canon.

Any video samples reported online from this Scarlet? Would love to see some.

Dillon

It is an EPIC with less powerful electronics. It looks identical to an EPIC operating at the same resolution/data rate combination!

Still can't get passed the credit card info screen...

Total BS. I don't buy the DOS attack for one minute. I work in IT security and a DOS attack can be stopped easily if you know what you are doing. This smells like they were simply unprepared.

Denial of service attack. Typically its when someone floods your site to try to stop your site from providing service. (Hackers do this to expose your system...and to take your company "off the grid".)

Denial of Service attacks are just huge influxes of server activity. Which is perfectly understandable given these announcements. No real way to pinpoint whether it's an 'attack' or not.
