To all those who are developing their spending budgets and plan to use their REDs with 35mm lenses and stabilizers...don't forget that you will need wireless focus controls at the very least (and if you are ever going to do exterior work that spins around more than 90 degrees and/or travels inside, you'll need an iris channel as well) and that is currently around $4K per channel. This is really not optional, unless you intend to work at T8 or more as well as no longer than 40mm or so. You simply cannot "set and forget" focus with this level of resolution.
There are some very exciting, low-cost changes happening in this market as well... by one of our very own. :)

I've heard ruminations about this for a while, it will be interesting to see what people are going to come out with. It's a challenge for sure, because the motor has to be pretty powerful to be able to drive 35mm cine lenses (especially the funky older ones that many RED users are likely to be employing) and there's a number of technical issues to surmount to be able to deliver a smooth, stepless operation.

Then again, there have been more than a few trinkets brought out for this market at price points that indicate nearly no profit margin, so if this is going to be the case, sure it's possible to cut the price of a competing system in probably half.

Fishbone vs. FSPRO vs. V16 (Glidecam)

Fishbone vs. FSPRO vs. V16 (Glidecam)

Same price range, other options. FSPRO... And especially comparing it with the V16.

On the 2nd option (FSPRO), I believe the vertical arm can be a must. Charles King agreed. But Glidecam is a well known based company.

Any thoughts?

Here is another one ($1,999):
