RED one has a competition

don't let the phantom demo fool you... the red can crank out the same quality imagery... now if the phantom is 15k... then that's another story.

Red can probaly produce better imagery, but Red cant do 1000 FPS. Different strokes. for example, in Lock stock and two smoking barrels, the machine gun sequernce. probably shot with a different camera from the main Film cam altogether. that looked like almost 750-1000 FPS.

In which case, you could shoot your movie with RED and rent the other camera to do the extreme slo-mo...

Exactly.

High speed cameras are in their own category. I think it was the winter olympics I was watching and they were using a 5000fps camera to film the skiers go by at 90mph.

Usually a specialty item rented for specific scenes (or if you're a billionaire, I guess you could pick one up, but the upkeep would still make it easier to rent).

and yeah, that short (demo) kicked arse.

Unbelievable... how much does it cost?

Also, is it available now, or will it be shipping Fall 2050 like the Red?

Also, didn't I read somewhere this thing actually need to be tethered to something the size of a small refrigerator for recording purposes?

Red does not exist yet, and probably never will... but this camera is also in the prototype stages, and may never exist either!

Whenever I try to view the short I'm told that the page cannot be found. Anyone else have this problem?

I went to NAB, I was there and saw a large metallic camera casing... that is all, do you really think a company that makes sun glasses would be able to do what Sony, Panasonic and Canon have been unable to? Besides, Red's "tent" at NAB looked like a ride at the county fair... all flash, no substance.

As for this high speed camera... looks pretty sweet, the demo is literally jaw dropping, if it is released for 200k it will find a market with Hollywood productions, if they are aiming for a 35k price range, it will never be released!

Yeah, it looks like the short has been removed.

Trust me, it is an amazing short. The production quality is just astounding. Hope they put it back up.

I guess there was a site error of some kind. I contacted them and it's back up now. They replied to me within 6 hours, always a plus.

If'n you guys want to talk about this camera, feel free... but don't start that 'red doesn't exist... never will' garbage again... if you honestly believe that... go stick your head in the mud or something... and don't mention it to the owner of this website who happens to be shooting with a red one on a regular basis...

keep the red is a scam garbage out of this thread, or it'll have to be locked down...

speaking of this camera... yeah... it looks pretty wild... i actually posted about it some months back over on reduser... definitely not competition though... different beasts and price points...

later
