Hosting sites...

Does a particular hosting site matter in terms of the quality of your video? I have a 4 minute video I compressed and everything looked nice and clean after the compression however when I uploaded it to YOUTUBE.COM the quality went downhill! Is there another free hosting site I should check out?

What size is the video clip? If it small enough than use the space available to you from your ISP. I was able to get 3 videos, different lenths, onto my ISP's free web space.

www.myzine.org

offers free hosting up to 40mb per clip for registered users (FREE)
and 20mb for anonymous uploads
i would guess their player automatically plays the vids at a web-appropriate size, but i haven't noticed any real drop-off in quality.
here's a small quicktime clip I uploaded as an example:

I think i saw another similar site out there, but i did not bookmark it. myzine is neat because they also have an 18+ option for videos.

I also have something on IFILM and google. Ifilm is popular but the quality is obviously limited. And google video IMO is very awkward right now - as if their search engine designers were designing their video endeavor instead of a high-tech entertainment firm. It's also a timely process to put video up there. All in all, unimpressed with too many aspects of google video to get into it right now.

Otherwise, you may be able to find specific hosts to host your video in higher quality. Thru networking with resourceful people with similar interests.
