I am not sure many people understand the nature of a product like this and what it means for a business.
Basically RED does not have to sell millions of these or compete with Samsung, Apple, etc.
What it has to do is build something interesting enough that it can be spun off the core company and then bought out for a fortune by a major player.
That is the real strategy here.
This is by the way the exact same play that made a Jannard a rich man with Oakley.

But one thing is working exactly like they want it...... we are discussing this, giving them a lot of free attention that marketing money couldn't buy. Clever....

I'm curious how the modularity will work. Phone buyers are fickle and looking for a new design every generation or two or they get bored. So I wonder how that will play out long term when it comes to attaching modules to the phone that do other things. Will you have to buy new modules for every redesign? Will it stick with the same design?

Your post was deleted because it was a 100% quote of a post that violated the NO POLITICS rule. the deletion had nothing whatsoever to do with criticizing RED. Anything that even smells of politics is instantly nuked here, zero tolerance, always has been and always will be.
Post your same criticism but leave out the politics reference and it would have stayed just fine.

There was no politics in my post, it was completely devoid of politics that was the whole point.
He's referring to a post, not sure who wrote it, that made a reference to the acronym MAGA. Since I included in my post the whole quote of of this other post that had MAGA in it, it was deemed political.

Exactly that, yes, and discussing the philosophy behind MAGA as a marketing tactic, which led to other posts which were clearly way across the line, so the entire conversation went straight in the crapper, as it always has done and always will do, which is why anything that remotely smells of politics is instantly nuked here.
How anyone could have been here for 12 years, and not known that, is beyond my ability to comprehend. And Nirv's been here five years. Surely you guys know the rule? This should be coming as absolutely no surprise to anyone.
Please Barry, stop the over the top drama. From my recollection his post had a passing reference to MAGA. I don't remember it being about MAGA. My post was two words and neither one was Maga. I quoted because I thought it was spot on in a on topic way and its major theme was not political but critical of RED. I never saw any of the other posts. Were they critical of RED too? If they chose to make it political thats on them. Well since all were deleted I'll stick with what I believe was the reason for their deletion.
