Red Exclamation mark strikes again!

I've been hit with the dreaded red exclamation when trying to "log & transfer" P2 files made with a Firestore fs100. I've searched the forum (and the internet) but most are having a slightly different problem.

I can import SOME of the files but only a handful of them show up as error:unknown (red exclamation point). I don't think it's a name length issue because the firestore names them all with an identical lengths.

I would assume if the lastclip.txt file were corrupted, it would bar me from importing ANY files.

I'm about an hour away from buying RAYLIGHT and just importing .mov files.

BTW, I'm running a freshly installed FCP2 on a Dual 3Ghz quadcore MacPro.

I've put in a call to Focus Enhancements but haven't been called back.

Any ideas?

Well, after spending $200 on RAYLIGHT i got the clips imported. But now, the clips show up in the viewer but the audio has an eashattering digital clipping noise every few seconds and the audio that I DID get, is out of synch.

Also, when I drag the clip into the project, no video displays.

Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

UPDATE:
If I render the timeline, the video re-appears on the damaged clips. Also, certain 1 second clips of audio are out of place on the waveform and I've found they fit in the spots where the digital clipping noise is. But now my ears are bleeding and I need medical attention. Well, it's not that bad, but if anyone has any ideas how to fix these damaged clips, I'd be forever grateful.

I have had the same problem and I found an answer that helped me on this forum.
Though I was using P2 card I was getting most of my clips but some get the "!" and don't do anything. What I did that fixed this, for what ever reason, was while in the capture window go to the capture preferences and turn off the remove pulldown. That seemed to fix my problem. I was shooting in 720p24pn so there was no pulldown to remove or add for that matter, so it didn't effect the clips in anyway. If you are using anything other than a PN frame rate I cannot say if changing the pulldown setting will effect the clip or not.
Hope this helps you, let me know if it does.

Thanks for the reply Filmbuff8. I AM using 24pn, but I'd already tuned off "remove advance pulldown and duplicate frames." It didn't seem to help.

Right now, I'm having to import the quicktime made with raylight, unlock the audio, move it 1sec and 7frames forward, find the out-of-place dialog, cut it out and place it over the noise. It happens roughly every 21 seconds. That shouldn't take more than 32 years.

I'm not using a p2 card, I'm using a Firestore drive. I record to the firestore, organize clips and then dump to an external hard drive on the Mac. This is the first time it's happened out of dozens of transfers.

I saw the post about no "drag & drop" transfers for the first time yesterday. I'm afraid this may be the problem. Has anyone had crazy audio problems from this?

Or, does anyone know if I can do some kind of repair on the folder that's sitting on my hard drive, or is too late once you've dumped?
