What? They don't even have a camera to demo?

WTF?

Hey, guys check out my new $17,000 6k camera!
footage to come as soon as I get my head out my ass...

If they get 5000 shooters to fork over $1000 thats 5 Million,
should be enough to build the first real camera??

I completely agree with ya D_G. The thing about this camera is that it really is revolutionary regarding modular ability, resolution, and price. I for one think that Jannard has done an amazing job in putting this product together and being open with the public about where things are at and where he plans to go with it.

Whether you think its important to know these details will ultimately depend on whether you just want a finished product or whether you like to watch it come together from the ground floor and watch it through to completion.

I for one, while I want to see the final product, I still like the whole process. As members here we've been lucky enough to view this camera, talk with the CEO, development team, and see it start to come together. In exchange we're all getting free units... Right Jim?

I hardly think that Jim and Co. needs $5,000,000 to put together the demo. I can only imagine what they've already invested in R & D, and while I never look at how much money someone else has, I doubt that the $1000 down is money they need to execute this project.

Jim is doing something no other company has the courage to do, i.e. release price info when the final cost isn't set, be completely open with all who are interested, include everyone in a truly modular, revolutionary design, and many other things.

I mean, how many multi-millionaires post on an Internet forum? I mean, c'mon, let's be real here. I applaud him to walking out on a limb, instead of being secretive about updates, etc...

as far as vaporware, they may not have footage at NAB, but someone posted in the RED section that there's a company working with RED that's been shooting with a prototype for almost a year.

This is all we got, it looked like a metal mold of the camera body, but definitely not a functioning camera.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to hype anything up, and I was unaware that you guys have already seen this stuff, I haven't been keeping up on the RED.

Ahhh. there we go! Man, that thing looks kinda small. How big would you say it is? Without the cage.
I'd say probably 10" long, 5" wide, 5" high.

It looks like a little box that you stick a lens in, it's a really cool form factor. They were talking about all the different kinds of accessories that will be able to be mounted on the cage.

The riffle looking attachement changes angles to shoot from the hip or shoulder.

Huzzah TC !

Thanks a lot mate. I take back the monkey, hooker and colt 45 comment. We appreciate your passion to get us the scoop.

Those mock up pics make me happy, and I don't know why. Maybe because its one step closer to reality.

Cheers.

I applaud them for designing something so different from any other proven camera design out there. We may all be looking at the new industry standard being developed right before our eyes. Only time will tell.
