Recording to Canon HV20 from Final Cut Pro

I'm trying to record to my Canon HV20 from Final Cut Pro on my MacBook Pro.

I can't seem to make the instructions from the manual work. I'm using the Video Dubbing instructions on p72. I put the HV20 in Rec/Pause and select Execute, fine, but then the external video (from FCP) doesn't show up in the LCD like it's supposed to. The signal from FCP is not coming through.

Any idea how to make this work?

Hi Elmer. I have not done this in awhile but I recall if there is a format mis-match between the cam and Mac the LCD does not display the video stream.
