FS7: Recording HDMI 4K vs RAW

The cost would be a lot cheaper, if Convergent supports H.264/X.264 codec on the 7Q+. Heck, not all project requires PRORES quality, especially Youtube. Some folks just turn off by the massive files when record in 4K.

Not sure but in both cases we only accept two channel audio. In Apollo mode we can accept 8-channel audio from SDI sources.

why not shoot internally XAVC-L then? It is not toxic and keeps your setup light.

what ever you solution is: charge your client for this extra service. (I don't envy the editor)

XAVC-L is surprisingly good.

A 256GB XQD card would be most welcome i.e 2x 256GB and XAVC-L would cover most long record situations.

Some of my shoots are 14 hrs thankfully I'm only rolling for about 2 hrs if that.

Wolfgang, I did see this information at another spot in reference to a different product but I am still awaiting a response from Sony. It is quite possible that you are correct but I cannot confirm it at this point.

I understand that this takes some time, but I think that this is especially imporant for the FS7 user. It means that for UHD 50p/60p it makes sense to record internally to XAVC, or one has to use the raw path and has to record externallyto come up with more then 8bit.
