i was just curious as to what people would reccomend for a camera mount mic. im looking to spend around 200ish. any suggestions??

RODE NTG2 - I have used it for a year, never had a problem unless its outside and there is real strong winds. Sounds very crisp for its price too. Look it up on B&H

Be aware, though, that there are few situations where a camera-mounted mic won't be a letdown, and those situations where it might be OK involve cases where the quality of your audio doesn't matter much. If you're working on a project where audio matters -- which is most of the time -- you don't want the mic on the camera.

NTG2 FTW! I love this mic. Buy the kit from B&H, it comes with a really good shockmount. But make sure you get a short XLR cable.

This is the kit you want, if you are not gonna boom your mic. Booming it makes a world of difference, but you will probably be happy with it on your cam if you were used to that on cam mic that would hear eveything you did. When you want to switch to a boom you will be amazed, I was talking and the shooting about 12 feet away from my subject and my boom operator was talking(we were just testing it out) you can't even hear her. It's really all about the boom. If ya want it all get this
