Rebate question?

I just got a letter from Panasonic saying they can't process my rebate because I didn't submt the UPC...hmm I thought by cutting out that little bar code on the cardboard box and putting it in the envelope, I was doing that....oh well, now I get to waste a few hours on the phone with customer service! whoop whoop whoop whoop

What should I do?

What should I do?

Hm... I am quite peeved. I bought my DVX100B in February and requested a rebate on 02/25/2006. It started processing on 3/1/06. Several weeks went by and I checked on it at the 6 to 8 week interval and heard that it was coming in 6 to 8 weeks FROM the process date. So I waited another two weeks. I finally got it after waiting several weeks in late May.

I was ordering it as a both a student for educational purposes, but as the soon to be owner and so I put down my college as my liaison. I also thought this would help since they would see that this was an educational+ personal purchase and so they might handle my processing faster.

However when they sent the check they made it to my university but had my address. My name had gotten cut off so my bank couldn't deposit it. Doh!

So I called the rebate representative at Panasonic and they said that the check was made out wrong and they also said that a line in the check should have been in there, but wasn't. Apparently it is there is only one person handling the call center and this person was professional and amiable. I was told to mail it back and explain the problem in a letter and it would be all taken care of.

Well, it is now July! And I still am waiting for my rebate. I called them up on July 3rd and they said that my check had just gotten sent to the processing center and they were upgrading my status and FedExing my rebate to me next Friday. Seems like the company that writes the checks is in Tennessee and I thought it should only take two to three days to cross two states. I am really hoping that it comes this week or I will rip all my body hair out. :violent5:

I have also emailed them and used online forms. The phone method is the best mode of contact. I don't blame the representative at the call center since they just handle calls and actually thought they were cool, but I wish Panasonic wouldn't use a third party rebate center or get better rebate support. It's my probably on of my biggest purchases, even more than my car, and I just want to get back to buying more equipment for this kickass DVX100B! :)

Well hopefully this week it will come. Thanks for listening. I hope this posting helps other people avoid any potential problems.

There is only one person handling the panasonic account at the third party company handling the rebates. This info is from the girl who is in charge of it. I'm right there with you, not quite as bad, but I'm there. I'm at about 9 weeks now. Supposedly they will be sending me my check tomorrow, but I have my doubts. They cut me one already for the wrong amount, but I never even received that one. And when I check my status online, it says I will not receive a rebate because one was already issued for my serial number? Huh? The whole rebate program for the dvx is one big cluster f**k if you ask me.

Hi 133,

You didn't supply your serial number, your real name or your claim number so for all of the rant, you have left me no tools to work with. I am sending you a private message and if you would please fax to me a copy of your claim form and invoice.

Thanks,

Jan

Hey Jan, thanks for the reply. What would you intend to do if I did give you my invoice number or confimation code? Just being wary. :)

Sincerely,

I would try to find out what is going on. I do not want that information out here on the internet but in a private message. But if you do not want help, fine, let it remain a mystery. But I thought with all the words you had to say about how screwed up things were you were looking for help. I cannot help without information.

Hi Jan, I'm not knocking your help, I just have to be careful, especially in a post 9-11 world or whatever they call it. I hope you understand. :love4: Mainly, it's because I've been burnt in online deals on Ebay before from a guy not sending me all my laptop parts and to certain websites sending me partially broken stuff and as a student I know money is tight. :( Plus I'm new to this forum so I don't know who's who.

I did find some info from my prior contacts with Panasonic and I'll send it to you by PM. :dankk2:

I understand your concern, but I think if you have read this site at all and you read my signature it shuld be evident that I am trying to help.

Best,

I submitted my all req docs in mid may and have received my rebate check just yesterday. Since they kinda speculate that whatever you submit is incomplete, so that they don't have to send you the rebate check, I made sure I filled it all out correctly, and yes i too cut out the UPC code from the box, even though bhphotovideo provided a separate one. I also had to request an official invoice from bhphoto, which they provided immediately per email as proof of purchase.

Good luck.

There is absolutely no wanton unillingness to pay the rebate as you imply. I want to pay the rebate!!!!!. The reality is that people do not always follow direction and not all claims are filled out correctly and sometimes the folks at the rebate center are human as well. Frankly with the number of these we fulfill each month, the majority are in your ballpark. I advise to all, be careful following the instructions and include all of the information and check all of the right boxes etc. It makes this 4-5 hours a week of chasing this stuff down easier and less cumbersone.

Best,

jan

Jan is the official go to rep for all things DVX/HVX on this site. Your only 3 posts in to your posting activity so it's understandable. You simply do not know who Jan is.
Rest assured, you're in good hands with Jan.:)

so today is my bday, and what was sitting outside my door when I woke up? THE DVX BOOK!! kinda ironic.

I'm reading it right so bye.

and thanks

money is always more trickey then product.. Jan hooks us up with product (book software etc) cause she can get it done... but a check always hasta go through a couple more steps. If you really think there is a problem, PM Jan here and im sure she will help you out.

Slimchrisp,

During our last round of Private messages, I quoted what the rebate center sent me and that was to the effect that since they had issued one check, and they were waiting for that to be cashed as it had been issued earlier, and granted by mistake for the wrong amount, they were waiting to see if it would clear. When I contacted you about the check you said that you had never received the first check. This conversation took place on the 7th of July. I told the Rebate folks to stop payment on the first check at that point and they said as soon as they had confimation that the Stop Payment was in effect, they would issue another check. They received that on the 17th of July and your check went into the mail on the 18th. So you should have it within a week or so, depending how fast the mail servce is to Hawaii.

Best,

Jan
