Reasons to keep the DVX100?

I seem to have more problems with Vimeo search engine lately so no I haven't seen this. Looks like a good place. Not sure how much is 24p. I'll check it out. Thanks Barry. Hey does one of your books come with the AC160a or is it a separate buy? Thanks Barry

I'm sure you've looked through the Vimeo group?

Vimeo has changed something with their search engine. I couldn't get it to work either recently until I started enclosing my target within parenthesis.

"Panasonic 130" or "panasonic 160a"

If you buy a new car, it may be acceptable to the fallen substantially in value, but not with cameras, why?

Another question, I have 2 DVX100B, but they show different colors, the cameras have the same setting in the menu, I have to adjust in EDIUS 6.5, it is a bit difficult.
I thought all DVX100B reproduce the same color?

Hi Kaj44,

For the colors of your cameras, did you do the white balance on the same sheet at the same place? Did you put different preset of white balance on both cameras?

I honestly feel there would be more value in storing away a box of tapes or two and locking the camera in a vault and allowing it to become an antique. Then 30-40 years from now when you need some era appropriate footage you can do like some people with Hi8's and old 16mm film cams do these days for an authentic production. Would be VERY valuable then...lo

Good enough reason for me!!

They're still good for depositions. In fact 4:3 is a must - no widescreen allowed because you can't show the lawyer to the left of the witness or the court reporter to the right. Plus the DVX100 has the date + time at the bottom of the screen feature and a lot of cameras won't do that. And since they're delivered to the court reporting agency on DVD and then a lot of times compressed even further and delivered to the client on video CD, Standard Def is actually almost overkill. Plus they last forever because you're not using the tape drive - just going straight to a DVD recorder. The last time I used my DVX100b for anything else was in 2007 for this music video. I lit and shot it in a bar in 3 hours w/a crew of 1 and edited it that night. A tacky little thing called "7 Beer Girl" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Vsu4flZfxc

To the point of the thread: I keep mine simply because it's a revered classic (plus it's a low serial number, so it's among the first). I haven't actually used it in a long time.

Believe it or not they can make a decent webcam for a computer. Beat the pants off traditional computer webcams when it comes to lowlight which typically many have near their computer.
