READ THIS BEFORE BUYING A DVX100a

Re: Here: The Absolute Lowest Price for the DVX100

Re: Here: The Absolute Lowest Price for the DVX100

I bought mine from Royal Camera for the great, low price of $1900. Before I paid for it they said I'd have it within 3 days but after I paid they said I'd get it when I get it. After about 3 weeks I broke down and gave them an extra $1000 to get the "Professional" model which would be to me two days later. The only difference in the "professional" model is that it comes with an already used Magic Bullet disc. Needless to say the camera still took another week to get to me and every accessory I got for it from them was ****. (yes, I had to get $900 worth of accessories to get the camera and they don't tell you that up front)  Stay away from Royal Camera, stay far, far away.

If you want a place that's honest and trustworthy go to http://www.bergerbrothers.com/. I live on Long Island so I go there to shop, they're a good group of people and won't sell you short.

Re: Here: The Absolute Lowest Price for the DVX100

Anyone got a phone number for Rush, the man that dvxuser.com puts their faith in? I've contemplated my brain to mush and after a scary episode with Expresscameras.com, have decided to make the smart move and buy from EVS.

I might not be able to buy that second shotgun mic, but at least I'll be able to sleep at night. Good luck to those out there buying cheap, but something tells me we should trust these guys here at dvxuser... they seem to know what they're talking about...

Re: Here: The Absolute Lowest Price for the DVX100

To find it, you can go to evsonline.com, the phone number is on the front page, 800-238-8480. You can order off the webpage, but I recommend making the phone call and specifying that you want the DVXUser.com discount.

Re: Here: The Absolute Lowest Price for the DVX100

;D  I can tell you I am a true believer now that I called Rush at EVS. He gave me the DVXUser discount and unbelievable service. I was going to take the discount for making a bank transfer, but changed my mind. By the time I got back to Rush, it was past the regular FedEx pickup time for EVS. Rush could tell I was disappointed to have to wait a DAY longer for the DVX100A, so he packed it up and took it over to the FedEx counter for me! I also appreciate his knowledge about the camera and accessories and his generally helpful and professional attitute. Forget about the bait-and-switch fly-by-night operations that offer the camera for a couple hundred cheaper (maybe...). EVS has my business from here on out. And I got my camera a day earlier than I expected - Thank you FedEx!

Re: Here: The Absolute Lowest Price for the DVX100

WOW!!! I have to say it pays to do a little leg (phone) work before you purchase. I called everyone from BuyDig.com to Abe's of Maine to PriceRitePhoto.com Etc. Etc. and the things some of them told me blew me away. Example: BuyDig.com I asked if they were authorized and they stated "No" so I said well you advertise the $300 rebate that requres purchase be made from an authorized dealer? He said, "Hey, we havent had any complaints!" I said,"it takes 4 - 6 weeks to get a rebate from Panasonic, what happens if I dont get it?" His reply," I said we havent had any complaints".
Other interesting comments made to me by some of these dealers were, "oh dont worry about the rebate, if for some reason you dont get the rebate you can call me back and I will personally give it to you", "If we advertise a rebate then it must be true" and I must throw in mention that Price Rite Photo was at least very honest and told me "yes we sell gray market cameras and so does everyone else and no you will not get the rebate, Panasonic is not in the business of giving money out to non authorized dealers that are hurting their dealers sales". He actually took the time to tell me how these shady dealers obtain their product and that Panasonic was VERY strict regarding warranties and Rebates.
My early research results:
Dealer: Abe's of Maine After Rebate: 2675.99 Before Rebate: 2975.99 Authorized Dealer: No Contact: 1 800 992 2237
Dealer: BuyDig After Rebate: 2779 Before Rebate: 3079 Authorized Dealer: No Contact: 1 800 617 4686
Dealer: Price Rite Photo After Rebate: N/A Before Rebate: 2899 Authorized Dealer: No Contact: 1 888 365 4300
Dealer: Beach Camera After Rebate: 2949 Before Rebate: 3249 Authorized Dealer: ? Contact: Email No Reply
Dealer: IBuyPlasma After Rebate: N/A Before Rebate: 3069 Authorized Dealer: ? Contact: 1 800 886 8575
Dealer: Real Deal Shop After Rebate: N/A Before Rebate: 3069 Authorized Dealer: ? Contact: 1 800 883 5534
Dealer:Central digital Camera After Rebate: N/A Before Rebate: 3079 Authorized Dealer: ? Contact: 1 800 896 4661
Dealer: Price Mad After Rebate: N/A Before Rebate: 3098 Authorized Dealer: ? Contact: 1 800 281 3075
Dealer:EVS After Rebate: 3149.95 Before Rebate: 3449.95 Authorized Dealer: YES Contact: 1 800 238 8480
Needless to say looking at this I actually started to almost decide to take a chance on one of these shady dealers!!!
THEN, I called EVS as suggested here. Rush was unavailable because he was out sick but the gentleman asked if there was something he could help with? I immediately became a skeptic at that moment. I explained how I heard about them from DVXUser and I was curious what a DVXUser discount would be? This is where the MAGIC begins!!!!
Me: Are you guys an authorized Panasonic dealer?
EVS: Yes, you may verify that directly from Panasonic
Me: How much is the AGDVX100A with the DVXuser discount
EVS: Our advertised retail price is $3449.95 but as a DVXuser you get it for $3397, Where do you live?
Me: I am in Southern California
EVS: Great! If you can come into our L.A. brick and mortar store you would get our local customer discount of $50 that would bring your price down to $3347 and if you can pay in cash or cashiers check you'd get another $50 off that would bring your price down even further to......ummm $3297
Me: So after my rebate I would be down to a price of $2997?
EVS: Yes sir, let me check on our inventory (pause) yes, we have 18 in stock on hand
Me: Would you suggest the Mack warranty?
EVS: Well, yes and no. You would extend your full warranty coverage from 1 year to 5 years for the DVXuser price of around $159 but, I would say if you can hold off on it for up to 30 days then all you need is a bigger battery (the 10 hour) which you would also get a DVXuser discount on. You can come back and get your Mack warranty for up to 30 days after purchase.

Well, needless to say this has clinched the deal for me. Let's look at the Pro's here: Authorized Dealer, Final Price after Rebate $2997, 30 days to decide on a Mack Warranty, Great Service, No shipping fees, In store stock, DVXuser discount on almost everything it seems and a local legit store I can go to in case I have questions concerns worries or whatever!
I can't go wrong.
Thanks to the members here that mentioned EVS, although I havent gone to pick up my camera yet, the pleasure and confidence I got after speaking to them was a world of difference from the others. I'm sure there are other great Authorized dealers but if your local to L.A. then this is the place to go.
Much Praise to this Forum for DVX Users or Users to Be!!!
Oh yeah, this is my first post here but you'll be hearing more from me in the future LOL
Thanks
Brandon

Re: Here: The Absolute Lowest Price for the DVX100

Brandon thank you very much for that wonderful detailed account, I am glad we were able to be of service. About two weeks ago, I sent out a general email to all my sales guys and gave the exact break down of DVXuser pricing, as it was laid out to you on the phone, so that there can be no erroneous prices given. Apparently, it has worked very well! Thanks again! ;D

emccainaz, it was my pleasure! I figured you really needed that camera early. :D

slomocean, again I am hoping my quote reached you... :)

Haven't got it yet but my email has been nutz recently, so I'll just call when I get off work today... look forward to doing business with you.

Hello all! I just found this site and just paid Digital Liquidators $1600 this evening for a DVX100A (online order). After looking at the resellerratings.com site and finding the feedback re this store are so negative, I feel ill.

You should feel ill...go throw up now.

Done? More than likely you won't receive the US warranty, Barry G.'s book/dvd, Magic Bullet, etc. Contact Digital Liquidators and demand to get your money back. Call them, email them, threaten them. Once you're done with that, give Rush at EVS a call.

Gray market or not--there's no way you're going to be getting a DVX100a for $1600. Did you also order $1800 worth of junk accessories? Because that's the only way you'll get a DVX for "$1600". Otherwise you probably don't have to worry--the camera will be on "backorder" until the end of time. Call your credit card issuer and cancel the whole thing.

I just called the bank to instruct them to cancel the transaction but (CUE: MYSTERIOUS MUSIC) their computers are down! Would these Digital Liquidators go so far to get my $$ and play their devilish game that they would also disrupt my bank's computer operations?

I'm paranoid now. :(

Hmmph!

I just wish I'd found DVXUSER.COM BEFORE I ordered. And I DID check around for weeks before deciding on "DigiLiq." There was even a site that rated the camera AND the vendor and they rated only half a star below B&H Photo!

:(

Barry_S, thanks for getting the sticky back. I can see it's already making a difference!

I'll reiterate: Why take the chance? Go legit and become another satisfied EVS customer. 'Nuff said.

Well guys, I finally did it and took the profeel plunge. Why? well my circumstances are probably different from most.

A. I live in Australia and the dollar conversion isnt so great $.75 to the US dollar so every cent counts. so i went for a bargin

B. It was advertised for $3125+200 shipping =3325 minus -300 rebate=3025

C. the Camera was advertised for roughly $4600 US in OZ(damn tarrifs)

and last but not least
D. even if its not a gray market cam I'll gonna have to get if fixed here and not US

What were the results?

Evelyn at profeel was good. placed order. They offered accessories but I declined. it took about a day to get all my credit card and ID details verified.
Payed to have the cam sent to my friends place- 2 days later it arrived in Atlanta

My mate reshipped it to OZ and i got it 4 days later

Its working like a champ and I got all the accessaries that come with the cam.

I'm sending off the rebate this week. will let you know what happens.

Damon C... said back in December that you bought from Broadway... which I've also heard is the worst of the bunch... follow up dammit! What happened? I'd love to hear a fun horror story about somebody else's money... lol... just kidding... but I wonder what happened?

I bought a DVX from Profeel before I even knew what DVXuser was... and it was a pretty good experience... I had it 3 days after my call. I thought they were an authorized dealer... I guess not...

 I just ordered my dvx100a from randy at evs, anybody have any info on underwater housing for the dvx? that can sink to aprox 100ft

It was quite a nightmare ordering my DVX100A (about a month ago - before i found this site ofcourse) I had called a couple places who had some insanely low prices (some in the ballpark of 1600 bucks!) to find out they had none and was rudely told to call back later in the month. Then I started looking at the more expensive places.

I ordered from A&M Photoworld and it is definately a Grey Market camera. But you know....I got the camera for $2900 OVERNIGHTED with a 2yr Mack warrenty and a 5600mah battery. I guess I'm just lucky in that respect - I asked if they were in stock and how fast they could get one out to me due to an upcoming shoot. It actually beat the tripod and bags I ordered from B&H a day or so before. Yes the salesman pushed hard on the extras like batteries (which he told me they send a test battery only....i was like wtf?) and I caved into the buy on the warrenty (which i suppose is from a reputable vendor) which he kept cutting down in price until it sounded reasonable to me.

I didn't get the Magic Bullet software, but I had heard that it wasn't so great - especially since I had gotten a 5600 battery instead of the puny 1600 + 2yr warrenty for less. (also recieved some DVX manual/handbook thing)

Overall I didn't get a bad deal. The only thing that bothered me at any point was just the fact that it was grey. Otherwise, I got a great cam with more of what I wanted, overnighted, and warrentied. Please try to point out something bad about that - I can't think of any at the moment.

if you buy new from authorized dealers, its 'around $3300/3400 or so MINUS the $300 rebate = $3000/$3100 give or take. you also GET THE WARRANTY, MAGIC BULLET, AND THE FREE 5600 BATTERY, 10 PANASONIC TAPES AND THE BARRY GREEN BOOK/DVD. you paid $100 to $200 less but got alot less in return in my opinion.

i actually think the magic bullet software is pretty cool, especially for FREE. cant beat that. also, with an authorized purchase you get the 5600 battery PLUS the 'puny' 1600 stock battery. ***NOT INSTEAD OF***. did they physically remove it from the box before you got it? never heard that one before.

theres a very comprehensive additional thread regarding all this, im going to post it here:

Authorized Dealers - Where to buy

seriously read that thread! jan from panasonic directly details info regarding warranty, grey market, etc.

pretty sure grey market dvx's dont have any basic panasonic warranty. not sure how the 2yr 'mack' warranty plays into all that. at the very least, you should call a&m and tell them to give you your friggin 1600 stock battery back!!!

hope some of this helped...

Most assuredly, I got a grey market camera (but it has been a year, so the warranty is not an issue. ;-)

Weird, though. Mine came with the 5400 battery.

On the other hand, my 100A came with a 100 manual. Go figure.
