Rail and follow focus for 7d

For a $135 you almost can't go wrong...

Anyone else one of these rigs?

They appear to be rather fragile, especially with the exposed gearbox.
My bet is you'd be looking for a new one in a few months (or less).
Unfortunately, you do get what you pay for.

btw, it seems that you'd need the mount (or rods) as well as a set or two of gears, so not so cheap for something kind of cheap...

The follow focus (v2) from The Cine City in India is actually a solid piece that hasn't failed me and can be bought with rails, etc. It's much cheaper than Redrock and the like but it's not $135 cheap. They give you a ton of gears (some in sizes you will never ever use so you can ask them to just replace them with more, smaller gears).

I use it with my 7D setup all the time.

I second Popsiclestand. The V2 FF from Cine City is great. I have, however, a few months later, changed the rails to a much lighter/smaller 12" carbon fibre set from IndiSYSTEM.

I actually ordered the v2 FF and attachment plate (I didn't want the rails). I bought it for my 50mm lens. That was the drawback. I didn't understand the FF system very well, and realized after I bought it that it doesn't adapt well to that lens (the focus ring was way too thin). I was able to send it back with no hassle.

I say give it a go. If it doesn't work out, send it back. At least you'll know.

Yep, one major consideration to make when buying lenses (if you plan on using a ff) is to get one with a decent sized focus ring. I made the same mistake for my 50mm.

Although I'm curious to know if people have had that problem when using zip gears. Thought about purchasing a few...
