Quicktime problem with FS-100

I'm trying to open the Quicktime file I shot but I got a notice stating that I'm missing a Quicktime component. And when I try to open it in FCP, the message states, "Codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card."

When I play the clip back on it's own, I can hear audio, but can't see video.

Any ideas?

How is your FS-100 set? If you are shooting any HD format the HVX can output via firewire (which excludes Native modes) and have your FS-100 with firmware version 3.0 set for Quicktime or Quicktime PN (if you recorded 24p) and recording format for DVCPRO HD, you should be able to read those Quicktime files in FCP.

What were your in cam settings and what was the FS-100 set to?

What are your sequence settings in FCP?

What version?

The HVX recording format is on 1080i/24PA.

The FS-100 is set for DVCPROHD. I've tried both Quicktime and Quicktime PN.

Shouldn't I be able to just play th Quicktime files right out of the folder? The Quicktime screen opens up and I can hear sound when it plays but the screen is white.

Contact Focus, this shouldn't happen at all. The QT files should be good right off the drive. What is the name of the folder the files were in on the FS-100?

I'd contact Focus. I'd do that right away with any problems. As they'll need some of the log data. And if you start recording again, you may get an updated log, making a fix harder to figure out.

Thanks.

I sent them an email earlier today, so hopefully they'll have an answer soon.

I was anxiously waiting so long for the 3.0 and I still can't use it the way I want.

So frustrating.

Well, somehow got the clips to play. So regular shooting is okay.

But now I was experimenting with time lapse and those clips won't open.

Very weird.

Honestly, I'm not exactly sure at what point the regular Quicktime files began to play. I played around with some playback settings in the preferences and I re-installed WMV. So something there made it happen.

All I need to do now is figure out why time lapse Quicktimes won't play.

Must be Flip4Mac, that's about the only WMV codec for QTPro around.

How are you setting your HVX and FS for time lapse?

Exactly.

Sorry I didn't clarify.

The last time lapse I tried was 720P/24P on the HVX. Then In the FS I have it set to DVCPROHD and Quicktime PN recording with one frame per 10 seconds in time lapse mode.

Try doing the Time Lapse in a non-Native recording mode. It's going to be Native anyway. Using a Native mode on the FS-100 for Time Lapse will not be of any benifit anyway.

HVX is set properly, but do NOT hit record on the HVX, only use the record button on the FS-100 when you're using it's Time Lapse feature. And use a non-Native mode. It's only going to record 1 frame every 10 seconds anyway, a Native mode won't be of any use.

Thanks.

Yesterday I tried one with non-native and it worked like a charm.

When would I use native on the FS anyway?
