Quick Krasnogorsk test

Just a little film of a Pie being made.
Did it to test my Krasnogorsk. Obviously it needs so attention since it scratches the film quite a bit.
But it still looks cool imo and will give me a fine memory.

A shame since I love the form factor and function compared to a Bolex. Just which they would preform equal.
Might get a scoopic instead.

I left some "native" cuts and light leaks in the film... for fun I guess.

 
Beautiful!!! I love the imperfections. Use a nail file to soften the edges of the gate. I would guess scratches are coming from gate. Look for pink residue buildup on after rolling film, light sanding can usually fix these kind of scratches. I have k16 i need to shoot a test roll on.

I have kodak k100 and it was very cheap with very solid movement.
 
I will try it.
The loop formers are also suspects. Will file the gate and remove the formers.
Also I have a seconds K3 body I can try :)
 
Um...I wouldn't file down anything metal in the cam, gate aperture included. Just give the gate, pressure plate and rollers a good cleaning with a toothpick or plastic cuticle tool. Chamois swabs work well with tape head cleaner on the rollers and loop formers as well.

The loop formers are known for scratching since they dont move away on 95% of the cameras.
And the gate has some imperfections from the s16 modification. So in this particular case, some filling will be done :)

But thabks on a good tip on giving it a good clean as well. Ive just used air so far.

No, seriously, I grew up on rhubarb pies. And the crappy quality Soviet electronics.
 
I keep looking up Krasno's online, still kind of want one. Esp. the super-16 mod.

You can really see that gate-jitter (if that's the right word) on those shots. Wonder how much more you have to spend to get a camera with a steady frame? At least there's no rolling shutter!!!

Where did you get your film scans done?

Andes did the scan.
I think it will be a bit more steady if I remove the loop formers. But my Bolex H16 is much steadier out of the box so I might use that instead.
And, I just saw an Arri 16mm go unsold for less than a 1000 dollars with loads of accessories....
