Question About Lens Adapters

Whats the process for mounting/dismounting vintage lenses with an adapter on to the GH1? Does the adapter stay on the lens when you take the lens off the camera or does it stay on the camera body? Just want to know if I need to buy multiple adapters or will one do it.

You can go either way.
Think of it like 3 components - GH1, adapter, lens.
Both adapter and lens have their own release, so you can leave an adapter on the body, or remove the lens with adapter still attached.
I have one M adapter and a few leica M lenses (for example).

The body has a big button that you press to pop it off whereas the adapters have a tiny little lever that you have to push in the direction of the front of the lens and its really hard to do quickly. Plus the adapters seem to be alot harder to mount the lens onto than mounting a m43 lens directly onto the body.

Really depends on what kind of lens you use and how that particular lens mount is constructed. My Canon FDs go off and on the adapter with ease but I've heard from people with c-mounts that they'd rather have one adapter for each lens.

Martti - I'm trying to pick up a few Canon FD lenses, which adapter have you been using and where did you buy it? Also looking at a Minolta MD lens - any adapters for this lens that you know of?

I have three adapters and they go on and off pretty easily. The c mount adapter (metabones) being thin metal is the most tricky to mount, although not a big deal. As I only have one c mount lens I usually leave the adapter mounted to the lens.
