Ptool for beginners / Ptool FAQ

does the AVC bitrate adjustment work without the "native 24p" setting? I still need to view my files in camera or on a monitor after I shoot them.

Posted this question by mistake in the other thread, so I'm posting it here instead. I'm simply wondering if any of these changes update or upgrade the still-taking capability of the GH1, or if they're only related to video. Is there anything that can be done through this firmware upgrade process to improve the still-taking capability?

Hey all I've been looking all over all three threads related and can't find this. I'm scared I was dreaming about it and thin I saw it.

For MJPEG, I could've sworn I saw someone say 720p25 was possible. Is this true? Am scouring the posts but thought I'd ask. I have a PAL model camera, and would be incredibly happy with the MJPEG mode at 25.

Again, I could've sworn I saw this. But still can't find it. Can someone confirm?

Is there anyway to increment the version number differently? Right now it goes up by .01 so if you're at 1.32 it goes to 1.33 then 1.34 and so on. It would be great if it went to 1.3201 then 1.3202 and so on. That way when Panasonic comes out with 1.40 (or even 1.35 or something similar) we could have done a lot of upgrades of the firmware before being locked out of the option of going back to an official Panasonic firmware and official Panasonic version number.

No, it is not possible.
Look at Ptool window, it show you actual value, and this value is of word type (0..65535).

I don't understand any of that coding stuff so I don't know what you mean there. There's no way to change the way the Ptool works (i.e. reprogram or change the coding in the Ptool software) to increase the version number in a different way? The camera wouldn't recognize a firmware version number like 1.3201 or 1.32.10 or anything like that?

I have 2 short questions, please excuse if I missed in somewhere.
1. Do you see any harmful if version change input “negative” number as now using 1.22 firmware and want to patched 1.3 to 1.23, brainstorm : P
2. Native 24/25 changes only 50/60 wrapper interlaced, but no change on AVCHD 720p50/60? I want to keep 720p50/60 but try out 1080 AVCHD 24p.

It won't update. So, it is useless.

Read help hint. It removes interlaced wrapper in 1080 modes, nothing more.
720 modes are progressive.

I updated my firmware to 1.33 (with some AVCHD tweaks), but now it won't seemingly update to 1.34 (that i've just patched to try a couple of other settings). I don't want to be stuck with this firmware version but for some reason its not recognising the newer firmware. Any thoughts?

File name, not fully charged battery, etc. All of them are known for long :)
