Sells Lilliput 7" HDMI monitors for those on a budget. They have a $20 off coupon with free shipping right now. I bought the touch-screen version one for $203 shipped. Not bad for a multi-purpose monitor with HDMI in.

I can second this, I bought one last week, $200 shipped and it came really quick, great monitor.

the lilliput I purchased lasted about 3 hours - and it would have cost more to exchange it than it was worth - my two cents

Sorry to hear that, but how on earth was shipping a 7" monitor going to cost you ~$200? I figured UPS would've cost maybe $50 but certainly USPS wouldn't have cost over $35 for priority mail.

Or am I misinterpreting your post and you're actually saying that you weren't willing to spend $35-50 to exchange the monitor?

I have a Lilliput. Great little monitor specially when compared to how much a Marshall or even an Ikan costs. Does the job and does it well actually. I thought I would give the Lilliput a try before going for something more expensive since the lilliput is dirty cheap. Didn't feel the need to upgrade yet.

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but in the hopes I could get some answers by owners of the CoolLCD monitors...

I'm planning on purchasing a CoolLCD 8" CL8, and I wish to mount it to my GH1 and future GH2 aswell. What accessories from their website would I need to get for this?
Also, how would you rate these monitors for critical focusing and framing?

A word of caution about a camera-top 8" monitor: that's a whole lot of monitor for not much camera. I have the 7" and there are times that I find it to be a bit much. If I had it to do over again, which I will very soon, the 5" is much more practical.

That said, the 7" (668GL) has done just fine with my T2i. Since the camera doesn't output HD during recording, there's only so much that can be expected of any external monitor. It does what it needs to do, though I also use Magic Lantern's focus peaking. I haven't used it, but the newer Lilliput 5" (569HO) looks to be a much better option... even offering things like over/underscan and a blue-only mode. Plus, it has HDMI out for daisy-chaining to a second monitor.

I had considered that it may be a heavy little bugger, so I thought about buying a flash bracket to attach it to. Would this be a practical solution?

It's not the weight as much as the size. It just gets to be unwieldy mounted either on the camera or by a Noga arm. It's just a large piece of gear to have in the way.

I understand that.

I'm looking at the 7" also, I've been thinking about that one. What bothers me about the two is, the 8" is cheaper than the 7" Lilliput version (HD2)... how does this make sense? Also, the monitor would only be used on a stationary rig and maybe the occasional shoulder-shot.

Not sure exactly which models you're looking at, but the CoolLCD-branded 8" is cheaper than both their self-branded 7" and the Lilliput 7"... I suspect because both 7" models add HDMI out.
