I have three GH4's for a 4K project I'm working on and one of them now has a broken micro HDMI port. I've barely used this camera too since it was on a One Man Crew slider most of time with a monitor attached.
I've gone through two micro HDMI cables and two micro to HDMI adapters. The kind with a 4" cable in between the ends. all started failing after two days of use. These cables are utter crap. This connection is utter crap.

If you use an external monitor you have to get a cage or something that has a pinch/clamp. I highly recommend using a Micro to full HDMI adapter and clamping that in as opposed to a micro HDMI cable and clamping the cable. It's just to fragile. The adapter is solid and becomes like one with the cage and camera. If you don't be prepared to send your camera in for repair eventually and hopefully while under warranty.
