GH4 Protect That Micro HDMI Port

SmallRig has a couple similar products but with indexing studs so the plate can't slip & damage the port.

Their newest version is the HDMI Lock 1491. This has the studs in the front so the GH4's LCD can still fold open or closed.

Bern,
Do you think that SmallRig HDMI Lock 1491 (or something else) will work with the Wooden Camera DSLR cage?
That's the cage I'm currently using with my GH4 but I'm concerned about the HDMI port when I hook up an external monitor.

Wooden Camera's Cable Clamp works fine but is a bit long so I prefer SmallRig's HDMI Lock 1412 & a fullsize-to-micro HDMI adapter. I mount it upside-down where it stays within the profile of the cage & doesn't add bulk.

Only issue is the LCD can't be opened, but that's a problem with Wooden Camera's cage anyways. Been meaning to talk to them about fitting a small riser/cheese-plate with indexing studs that sit under the camera, somewhat along the lines of the plate that attaches their m4/3 PL mount.

I've just had to send my GH4 back to the repair centre as, yes, you guessed it, the HDMI port is broken. Its such a nightmarishly delicate little port, really frustrating. So while I wait for the repairs to be done i'm back on the GH2. And guess what? The mini HDMI port on the GH2 feels so SOLID and reliable in comparison!! It clicks into place - clunk, and stays there! This is one area I really wish panasonic hadn't tried to 'minaturize' although I'm sure there is some good reason for it.

Anybody got any alternative options to the GH4 LOCK port? (it looks nice but the HDMI port angles towards the back of the camera). I'm looking for something that doesn't point the port backwards (i.e. allow the LCD screen to be used) and doesn't depend on a cage? I'm shooting as low profile as possible and ideally would like a non-cage HDMI lock, but one which allowed the LCD to be used. I'd like to leave it on all the time whether i'm shooting my kids (no external screen or cage using the LCD) or a big commercial shoot (with external monitor and cage etc).

Basically, i wanna glue a full size HDMI port onto my GH4 in an elegant way!!

my HDMI port failed half way through a shoot - the cables are fin but I'm getting nothing from the camera - what a pain!
