Seems as if I have purchased the wrong speed of memory card for video. I knew this was a problem if you got the wrong type and thought i got the right type, but clearly i was wrong. to avoid any confusion, please send me a link to the exact card you use and get smooth video out of so i can just click purchase and have no room for error. thank you.

I bought a kingston 16gb elite pro 133x card, and I'm getting horrible dropped frames.

You can always check for dropped frames playing back on the camera. Maybe your computer or video player isn't fast enough. Probably the player software as they can vary tremendously in speed.

I just tested a out-of-camera 1080p25 file on my "wimpy" dual core 1.33ghz low voltage laptop and no skipped frames. Surely processing speed isn't that big of an issue.

I try to stick to cards at least 300x speed.

I use adata cards for compact flash.

Transcend for sdhc cards (hmc150 camera)

Both are very inexpensive, while still being great quality and speed.

For Video, you don't need a fast card. I use the cheaper ones (Kingston Elite $80 for 32gb and also San Ultra 2 8gb from Cost Co = $30).

I've hard no problems with either. I think the San Disk has the reputation for being more reliable, but even the cheaper Ultra 2 is EXPENSIVE compared to the Kingston.
