I notied Barry had put up some really nice stills from a current project over on the 7D secion, so I thought I'd put up some stills from my current production with the 5D.

All of these are ungraded, straight out of the camera. Also of note, there was not a tripod used anywhere on this production. All shots are handheld. and are framegrabs and not dedicated stills.

I didn't want to imbed the images because they are 1080 snaps. When I get them resized properly, I'll do that.

Roger. No problem.

You could also embed SD or 720p shots, and then add a link which will pop up a 1080 version, if you wanted.

But the stuff looks good!

Ok, got them embedded. The street scene and the scene inside the restaurant were both my lighting setups. I'd be VERY curious if anyone can tell how many lights are on the Chinese woman in the last shot. That was the very first scene I lit in the movie.

The two outdoor scenes are all existing light with reflector.

The shadow on the arm looks like 2 lights. How many lights are there?

Great frame grabs! I always find it challenging when lighting people from different ethnicities in the same composition. 4 sources are lighting the Chinese lady

Thanks for the kudos, and EXCELLENT eyes! Yep, 4 sources.

1. Natural daylight
2. Softbox, daylight balanced
3. Tungsten toplight
4. Tungsten fill

The idea was to simply boost the two practical sources to get the needed exposure. I love Deakins and try to emulate that very natural feel when I can.

What's your experience with the aliasing and moire with your 5D?

Well, it's not my 5D, and the camera was purchased for this production. I've looked at every scene and every frame of the print takes, and haven't seen any aliasing or moire. And we certainly did nothing in production to prevent a problem.

Quite nice. Will you be adding in noise/grain when doing the online?

Director's choice, but I did play with that some last night. I've requested another screening next week so I can look at my grades, and will have some A/B footage with grain and without to see how it plays. I expect we'll get at least some grain into the project.
