Problem with footage

Robbie Comeau

Como's back. back again
I shot letterbox, 24pA, and in thin...and i get these jaggedy lines around my hand, neck, the desk, the black thing on the desk...Why? should i shoot thick?

Hey TheComo, Check your settings in your editor to make sure that the pull down removal is on. Also make sure that you are capturing at 29.97 so the removal of the extra frames is done properly. Plus make sure that you have lower field selected. Hope these tips clear things up, if not get Barry G or one of the other gurus here to help.

ive been capturing 24pA fine for the last 2 months.......i edit on a 23.98 timline, and i capture using the 2:3:3:2 pulldown

if you're sure you captured @ 29.97 and have the correct frames flagged (2:3:3:2) and are editing in a 23.98 then maybe check to see if your camera got flipped to something other than scene file 6/5. I've had this happen once.

can you post a clip? with a still shot it makes it hard to decipher btwn interlacing, thick/thin differences, or even color space issues (4:1:1)

i shot 24pa from the start and it always looked fine. then i went to shoot 30fps and it did that same thing.

where is this 2:3:3:2 pulldown, everyone tells me to use it but i have never seen something called that? could it be b/c im using an older version of fcp? i dont see it under capture settings

To me it does not look like interlacing. It looks like the detail should be set to thick to get rid of that. I only have seen that when its blinds or bleachers, something with many straight contrasty lines.
