Pricing F5 F55

Abel Cine called me yesterday with the prices... but I knew on Tuesday when I talked to Band Pro in LA... about the street prices... Band Pro is having the cameras there today... with Sony reps talking about workflow and high speed... wish LA was a lot closer...

I've seen the f55 listed at 35 in Australia which is odd considering the value of our dollar at the moment.
Are these prices body only no viewfinder? What will a functioning camera cost less lens and raw recorder?

Can't remember exact figures from the Sony event tonight, but it was around $18,000 for the F5, $38,000 for the F55, plus around $5,600 for the OLED viewfinder. The standard viewfinder was around $3,600. Raw recorder was around $6,000. Then factor in the cost of the new SxS Pro+ cards (or AXS cards if going with the raw recorder).

>>Official US street prices on cameras:
F5 - $16,490
F55 - $28,990
Ned

That impies that someone is actually seling them at this price. Has anyone seen any such listings? (taking preorders)?

Do you remember if those were list prices or street prices?

I think it's worth us chappies from the UK flying over to New York for the weekend and picking one up there, saving us about three grand in the process and having a lovely weekend to boot!

You can order the F5 for £9,995 in the UK = $16,104 (as of today). That is ex VAT but sales tax would be payable anyway. Being VAT registered also means it is cheaper in the UK. F55 seems to cost more though - £18,495 = $29,799 ex VAT

what the hell. . . ? we're paying more than you guys in the UK?

what a rip off!!

Listed by Sony themselves, as their 'Australian dollar' pricings for the camera and its accessories. Melbourne vendors will be Lemac and Videocraft, so I can't imagine any major discounts or price drops.

Oh well, kinda glad I decided to go to theatre last night rather than the launch event - seeing continued price inflation for the Aussie market, especially when our dollar is so damn high, would just have made me mad.

The event itself was good, and after all the talk I actually thought the price was perhaps reasonable. Then we watched the 4k footage, and I was less than impressed. IMO, it hardly holds up to a RED Epic, and when it's more expensive than a RED Epic, you start to wonder why you would consider it..

what price were Lemac giving - I agree it annoys me that in Australia we still get the jacked up prices. The dollar is no excuse anymore with our dollar at 1.05 US. Our camera prices should be the same or slightly less. Not 5 thousand dollars more.

Lemac made no indication that their prices would be any different from those quoted by Sony, but I guess we won't know for sure until they start selling/shipping.

Care to expand on this? Why does it look quite so bad?
