Pricing F5 F55

I'd say a better comparison would be that to have similar capabilities, an EPIC-X would need at least a mount, side ssd, a control device, pro io module, and v-mount plate, which puts it about $26k minimum compared to F5 which may be ~$16k street and closer to a working Scarlet with the same features.

Then if you consider that RED's MX sensor is 2 years old and will cost $6k to upgrade, that puts epic around $32k for an equivalent which is more than the F55's likely street price (~$30k?). But at that price, the F55 has a global shutter and dual recording and proxy recording built in...

Yep. which is why some of my peers here might hate me for saying it but ANY reasonable price Sony might have come up with for these cameras I feel would have been fair.

People complaining on other posts and blogs really aren't looking at what these cameras pack, nor are they looking at it from a business case perspective. I suspect a lot of the noise comes from hobbyists. I'm just tired of hearing it, if you can't afford it don't buy it - its that simple.

Almost lost in all of this is the F3, but in fact when you look at the pricing that just been floated out for the F5 and F55 you can see that the F3 does still indeed have a place in Sony's line-up. The F5 fully dressed ready to go on a date will probably come in at around $25K +/- depending on what you feel you need and the F55 is a different animal price wise and specs wise.....There may well be a small price drop on the F3 too, who knows?
So, let's see whether Sony is indeed going to still actively support the F3, and await what the next firmware update will bring. It's still a fine camera as most of us know only too well and will continue to produce good images for those of us that will not be jumping aboard the newer F's, at least not yet!

just got off the phone with a place in LA... suppose to call back in 20 minutes.. the Sony rep is there now talking... so they might know street prices then...

they had the F5 there... but haven't decided on street prices yet... he did say Europe always seems to post street prices first... I'd like to know to see about if its possible to pay for a camera and use sec 179 for tax reasons...

Blame Queen. It was the immortal words of Freddie Mercury that started all this - "I want it all. I want it all. I want it all and I want it now".

Street prices (with add to cart) are appearing in Australia for the F55. AUD$27,000. Our dollar is valued slightly more than the greenback. Link F5 is $18K plus tax.

A camera cheaper in Australia? Wait... A CAMERA CHEAPER IN AUSTRALIA?! I don't think I've ever seen that for any camera... ever.

Wow.

Gotta just love the little Aussie dollar at the moment....

Ozzie Ozzie Ozzie......

F5 package is looking very attractive, resale will be good if the dollars drops back to normal levels (85 cents) in 2-3 years time also...

Do we have an official low world wide price on the F55? I need to look into where my next holiday will be :)

Any official US pricing?
