Premiere Pro 2.0

Great advise Teledan! Thanks for that and it's good to know that atleast it worked in the past. I will give that a try and see how it works for me...update will follow

dewman, I was in your position when the last video collection came out (1.5). It took more than one phone call but I was able to argue that I was already registered for all the bundle components and should qualify for the upgrade from one bundle to the next. It took more than one call to get someone who cared enough to go check. It's worth a shot.

I was in the same boat(owned all programs but not as a bundle)...the first person I talked to said that I couldn't do it but then I asked to talk to her boss and they(to their credit) went ahead and upgraded me. Also, to those that don't think they need Illustrator it is an AWESOME addition to the bundle...it isn't just for print anymore and you will use it more than you think once you get the hang of it, errr...well, at least I do!

Well...unfortuantly it did not work for me...I called adobe and spoke with a manager...no go. I will try later down the road, when possible negative feedback (if any) comes from the masses, will help support my plea.

ThrillMedia - thanks for the input and I know I would use Illustrator at some point, but not now.

Probably ebay is going to be the best bet on my upgrade path....

Hold on....take back what I said on my last post...Adobe came through and took care of me! They called back and said they could do it! Props to Adobe for stepping up, they have a long time customer in me.

That's rediculously impressive. Props to Adobe for sure.

Excellent! It's good to hear that there is still some concern for the customer over there at Adobe. There are certainly times when I wonder.

i was able to find an upgrade that was only $695 for after effects pro 7.0, premiere pro 2.0 and audition 2.0 plus it had photoshop cs2 and illustrator cs2.

wasn't really happy about the photoshop and illustrator bundling as i already own the creative bundle.

the giant bundle was $1295 and i already own the macromedia studio 8 so that was a big waste.

i'm just happy i found the $695 one.

it said the new versions were in stock and shipping but the upgrades were backordered...

hmm. so does anyone know what third party hardware is required for DVCPRO Hd/ P2.. all clearly printed signs from adobe point to needing the AJA XENA LH or AJA XENA LHe card which supports DVCPRO HD and DVCPRO50.. as well as uncompressed HD and all other sorts of stuffs. anway the card sells for 1700.00 something. looks like itll cost a little more than i wanted it to, but the hardware suport will be nice once said and done.

I just hope Adobe offers the $99 upgrade for Premiere Pro if you upgrade within 60 days as they did when they released the 1.5 upgrade.

So, anyone know if this is the case? I see they have $199 on their site for the Upgrade. Or is there another site we have to goto?

:-)

The total cost for editing DVCPRO HD keeps going up. $1300 for the software and $1700 for the capture card. Isn't that about the same price as an Avid Xpress Pro HD or an iMac with FCP? :undecided

But -- what does this do for you? How does this work? These cards don't support MXF files, right? So maybe you could use one for live streaming and analog capture, but you couldn't use it for recorded footage, could you?

Someone needs to get to the bottom of this, because right now as I see it, Premiere Pro is not gonna work for the HVX, at least not without RayLight.

Doesn't anyone remember how long it took adobe to support 24p. Almost 3 years! I wasn't surprised on how Premiere missed the boat on the HVX, since it's consistent with Adobe's approach: every premiere release brings it in line with what the other NLEs have to offer. On the Premiere side, Adobe isn't as innovative as they are with Photoshop or After Effects.

But DVCPRO HD has been around for more than 3 years! If the only HD format that Premiere can support natively is HDV, then there's nothing "Pro" about it!

I agrree, I am dropping this prog. Adobe is sending a clear message that they don't want their video editing app to be taken seriously.

Looks l ike I need to learn Final Cut or Avid.

Good Point. Adobe says they support the Aja Xena HS card. I haven't seen this card with the "HS" suffix on the Aja web site. Anybody know about it?

For current Matrox RTx100 users:

Matrox will release a new update that will support current functionality in the new production studio. This will be good for those wanting to update to the new stuff while waiting for the the HD hardware to come down in price.

If you go look at the aja.com website today, there's lots more info on the HS card including reference to it's 'native' support in PPro 2.0. However, it looks like it's an SDI interface only. I don't see how that will work with an HVX; at least not without some other piece of h/w in between them. I'm no expert on all the HD signal standards but to me it doesn't look like a solution for the HVX at all.

Cineform has announced that a future version of Aspect HD will support the HVX200 but no promised data yet. A version supporting PPro 2.0 is shipping this week. I don't use Aspect HD now but it seems that those who have been using it for HDV editing in PPro have been happy with it.
