C200: Preamp Noise...

Update: Just tried another mic I had laying around that requires phantom power and it makes a hiss as well. I am starting to think its the phantom power of the c200 causing the hiss.

second that the sanken cs3 is great doesn't suffer from the tone colour changing when the subject is moving closer to camera.
i alternate between the sanken and a shoeps mk41
Third the CS3e. That's the same setup I've got; Sanken CS3-e and Schoeps CMC641. Schoeps for indoors, and Sanken for outdoors and indoors when the environment is noisy or the mic can't be placed as close.

I got my Sanken used on Ebay for the nice price of just $750. Has some scratches on it but works fine.

few days ago i took the CS-1 (mine) and used it on a friend's C200, now i was using apple ear buds to listen in, don't think there was any hiss, but maybe when you bring it into your post NLE, if there is any hiss it might be amplified, again i don't know as i am not editing the piece... but yes it does come with the windscreen... as for the CS-3, i'm not sure if it comes with windscreen or not?? what i do know is that my sound mixer buddy sold his senn416 after renting and using the CS-3 in the field!

Update: Ok, I apologize in advance, some of the settings I had were incorrect, and because of that my reportings were not accurate. I was basically listening to all audio summed onto the first channel. My new tests are much better and I hear much less noise on the rode ntg3. This time I put my audio into final cut and expanded the audio so I was just listening to the first track. I do hear a bit of noise, but I am not sure if its pre amp or not. I still may opt for the cs-3 because i have been reading about that mic and it seems like a mic i can have for a lifetime.

That's good to hear. I always considered the audio inputs to be a strong suit of the cinema cameras. I was worried they had screwed it up with the C200.
