PowerBook G4

Hey guys,

(Hours of searching yield no solution)

My buddy just got an old PowerBook G4 that I'm trying to set up for him as a p2 offloading station. I installed P2CMS and got a black screen during playback(although I could hear audio), when I realized that CMS won't work with a PowerPC processor.

Is anyone out there using this ancient of a system who has advice for playback of P2 media? He'll be editing on another computer and doesn't have Final Cut on the PowerBook. I just want him to be able to view/manage clips on his "in the field" computer.

Thanks

P2CMS worked fine on my 1.67Ghz Powerbook G4 but I never really got the hang of using it so I use P2 Log to view my P2 files and an older version of HD Log Demo to offload my P2 Store and P2 cards. That system has been working fine for me on my Powerbook

I'm the same .. have been using a 1.67ghz machine with no issues... P2 Log to view..

I had an old G4 550ghz that I use to use.. threw in a 120GB hard drive and it worked just fine.. Could not play back the videos on P2 log but could see the thumbnails.. which was enough for me at the time... just to know that the material had transfered correctly...

Cheers

You need the DVCProHD codecs that are installed by Final Cut Pro to view the footage.

There isn't a way around it.

So if I understand correctly, unless I have Final Cut installed P2CMS won't work? That makes sense, since I don't have FC installed.

Thanks for the info.
