Post nuclear short finished!

I liked it too, but only thing that caught me off gaurd was the fade out and black with just audio, i can see your reasoning behind it, but it also broke the whole piece apart, especially because after the black, we get like 4 seconds of an image and then it's the end credits. It just felt broken up at the end.

I think I know y he did that... so he would not ho show the gun, going off. this way he is able to get the shot he wants/the feel like its over for him... or is it. lol

footage and shots and lighting were all excellent
only the acting sucked balls... the lead was not too believable.
But overall I enjoyed it and wanted to see more!
alos like the graphics at the end... very sin city like.

Great work. I would definitely pay to see the series.

By the way, what did you use to transcode to Flash? And is that H.264?

I used the Macromedia Flash 8 Video Encoder. And the video codec was On2 VP6, Audio MP3 128kbs. This was the first time I used that kind of codec but it held the quality quite well. Compression was also fast with that Flash 8 video encoder.

I think that if we'll do continuation for this short, we will definitely bite firmly on story. This was a some kind of test for peoples reactions of the theme. (The story wasn't so ground breaking in this one:))

And thank you all again.

i saw your prod pics.
how did you make that mini dolly
it looks like injection molded plastic...???? please do tell.

It's made of plywood. I just sanded and painted it several times to get smooth surface. I used Teddybears original plans from DIY-section to make one, and slightly modified the design. I recommend on doing one yourself: it's very light and useful in places that have very rough surface and it gives you much more precision moves than a basic dolly.

Nice

Nice

That was top notch. Videos like this make me proud to own the DVX, even though nothing i make can compare to yours.

Nice work.

Is the crane also DIY?
Hell, your selfbuild skater looks better than the original!
What modifications did you do to Teddybears design? The screws?

Thanks. I modified the wheel locks using direct bolts through the wood to tighten them up. And yes, the crane is also DIY.

Here are more pictures of the crane in action and other stuff:

Thank you for the kind words. It was shot at 25p PAL (most of it was default 1/50 shutter, but I used faster speeds in the action sequences, like 1/250). We had a three man group: me 21(DP, directing, editing), my brother 23 (audio,CGI), my brothers friend 23 (over all helper, grip and stuff like that) and of course the three actors.

We used only large sheets of styrofoam as reflectors, and some metal wires and other junk between the sun and the actor to achieve texture. So no other actual lights than the sun :D

So you do a lot of stuff DIY!
I like that...
But guys, why are there no girls on the set?
I mean you got it all the cam, the dolly, the crane...
Ok, for the next episode I´m voting for a Barbarella remake!!!
And tell the characters to hit hard!
Come on - it´s for fame and glory!

i wouldl ike to hear what your incamera settings were, as well as your post CC adjustment:

contrast, pedestal, gamma, gain, etc....

For in camera settings I just used the default F6:CINE scene file:

DETAIL LEVEL 0
V DETAIL LEVEL 0
DETAIL CORING 0
CHROMA LEVEL 0
CHROMA PHASE 0
COLOUR TEMP 0
MASTER PED -2
A. IRIS LEVEL -3

GAMMA CINELIKE D
KNEE AUTO
MATRIX CINELIKE
SKINN TONE DTL OFF
V DETAIL FREQ THIN

As I said, I wanted to have very flat image to work with in post. For CC, I used the MB looks suites Bleach bypass as an starting point and then roughly modified it.
