Just curious how many out there would definitely buy (or strongly consider buying) a DVCPRO-HD (and DVCPRO-50) enabled version of Serious Magic's DV Rack.

For those who don't know what DV Rack is, head on over to www.serious-magic.com

A DVCPRO-HD version should give us full-screen real-time full-resolution pixel-accurate monitoring, waveform, vectorscope, quality assurance, and disk recording capabilities, all in a $295 application. Personally I think it's a no-brainer and an absolute must-have, but I want to see what others think.

I'd buy it if it were MAC ... Come on ... Raceist pigs.

But really.... I've been slepping a Tech. 1750 around long enough. A powerbook seems like a nice change ....

My mom told me to Never buy a PC. And I'm a good son.

The only thing I find myself wondering is, "when are they going to announce it?" The need for it is obvious.

Barry,

I've put off buying DVRack for a full year in anticipation of a DVCPro50 / HD version. I should have waited for Vegas for the very same reason.

If it came in at $295, my money would be in Serious' account yesterday.

Hmmm... as a mac user ;-) I'm not sure if DVRack does this.... but I would want to make sure that it also offers SCALED monitoring as an option... I can imagine wanting to use the smallest computer I could get in at least some situations...

I wouldn't be surprised if we see "HD Rack" at NAB and with Apple going to Intel processors, I have to imagine a mac version won't be TOO far out (although at this point its is purely wishful thinking.)

The problem isn't the processor, but that DVRack is based on Microsoft API's DirectShow instead of Apple's QuickTime. Directshow is a Windows only API. That means that it will demand a complete rewrite to bring it to mac os. Speaking of rewrites, Core Video and the new QTkit Api in Mac Os 10.4 should make that task much easier....

I'm still hoping they'll come out with a pro version as well. Add things like;

1. Dual system audio support, with upto twenty tracks.

2. Camera remote controls

3. Multi camera support.

4. Is the focus assit available for HD?

I'm sure there's many other bells and whistles others can think of as well. I think some one wanted a rocket pack at one time.

I have also held off until DVCPro-50 and -HD were supported. I assumed it was coming. Yikes!

I'll get it about a week or two after the HVX comes to my door.

i am mac too. i would use it though for all the other reasons. even on pc (i can't believe i am saying this) if there was no mac version, i would get it. i have really liked using it so far because of the full set of tools. it really does make our workflow much easier.

come on serious magic, if it can work of pc then it would be easier to make it for mac.

hopefully the redrock revolution will be as good as dv rack...anyone know when this might be coming out?

Ok young man ... open your mouth. There ... You'll think again nextime you want to use dirty words.... Taste good. Stop gagging, it's only Ivory.

I don't really use my DV rack much because it's pretty cumbersome on my 17" PC and I edit in Final Cut, which is doable, but a pain. It was a waste of money for me that would be easier to swallow if there were ever a Mac version. If they could make it work somehow with Mac, I'd be in.
