My question is simple, why do this cam requires Mac OSX 10.8? Is it for davinci ressolve? Or the Appel Prores 422 codec really requires that version of mac?

@Alex1 : The footage look great, I'm looking forward to this either!

@noirist : I know, but I want to know why it requires this? Is it for DaVinci ressolve?

I would imagine it's for software compatibility, the camera comes with Resolve Lite. Most software will have recommended computer requirements, but as long as you know your system will work with the Pro Res HQ files that will be written to the SDHC card, you should be just fine. You don't HAVE to use Resolve.

To me, the one thing I would want to know about my computer, is if it could work with HQ Pro Res 4:2:2.

I'm not sure what is so hard about looking up Resolve on the BMD website and seeing what the system requirements are. It needs Lion 10.7.5 or Mountain Lion 10.8.2 if you get the latest version. Resolve 10 (probably out by the time the BM Pocket Cam comes out), may drop support for Lion.

You can probably use Resolve Lite 9.3.1 though if you need to, or like pulpfiction007 pointed out, you don't have to use Resolve.

Thanks guys! Another guy on BMCuser proposed this : "Probably the firmware update apps require it as well." - CapitainHook
